DiLallo and Milewski Named CU Athletes of the Week

BOULDER-- Redshirt freshman punter Matt DiLallo and sophomore tennis standout Monica Milewski were named University of Colorado Athletes of the Week for the week of October 1-7. This is DiLallo and Milewski's first CU athlete of the week honors of the year but the second of Milewski's young career.   

DiLallo, a Wellington, Fla. (Wellington) native, rose to the occasion and out punted Ray Guy Award winner Daniel Sepulveda in both gross (51.8 for four punts, to 49.8 for four) and in net (45.8 to 44.8). DiLallo had two inside the 20 (one inside the 10) with a long of 63 with an 11-man rush at the end of regulation. He is second in the Big 12 and 11th in the NCAA in punting (44.9 average).

Milewski, a Park City, Ill. (Main South) native, won three qualifying matches, including a pair of upset victories over nationally ranked opponents at the ITA Women's All-American Championships at Pacific Palisades, Calif. Milewski became the first CU women in 15 years to advance to an individual national singles main draw tournament. She played five matches in four days winning three times, including wins over the No. 35 and No. 59 players in the country. One of her victories was a 3 hour, 50 minute marathon that advanced her into the Round of 32 main draw. Milewski, ranked No. 86 nationally is 6-2 this season and improved her fall season record to 15-5.

Nu'u led the Buffs to a three-game sweep of K-State on Oct. 7 in Manhattan, Kansas. She led CU to a .206 attack percentage, while hitting.385 as an individual. She recorded six kills, an ace, seven digs and four block assists while dishing out 40 assists. Nu'u averaged 13.33 assists, 2.00 kills, 2.33 digs, 1.33 blocks and 3.00 points per game. It was the first win at K-State for the Buffs since Nov. 3, 1999, and the first time CU has swept KSU on the road since Nov.19,1994.
