Colorado Coach Dan Hawkins Quotes

Opening Statement
"You have to tip your hat to Nebraska. They're a good football team. They did a nice job today making plays you have to make. When you come into somebody else's house, you have to maximize your opportunities. In the first half we missed some opportunities to either stop them or score ourselves. When you play really good football teams, you can't pass up those opportunities. It makes it tough on you certainly later down the road."

On being involved in a game with so many trick plays
"I've seen some of that stuff before.  You have to give them credit forbeing creative."

On running back Mell Holliday and his 44-yard touchdown run
"He did a nice job. Obviously we would have loved to probably get him a few more touches but he made a great run. He's just a tough, hard-nosed guy."

On Holliday returning to his home state
"He had a little fire going I think. That always happens a little bit. I think he had a little extra mojo in there."

On Nebraska's fake field goal when backup quarterback Joe Ganz was lined up as kicker
"We've seen them (Nebraska) line up and do some things like that before. Ultimately, we had a guy back there - we just didn't cover the thing, so you have to give them credit."

On if not maximizing the opportunities was a microcosm of the entire season
"A little bit. And when you have a team that is sort of searching for itself a little bit, you have that. You're a team sometimes that looks for proof rather than creates proof. Those things will come."

On a breakthrough moment this season that never came
"We probably had the chance at Georgia. That was probably the one that slipped away and I think probably would havemeant the most. And (it) certainly would have given us some inertia to keep going from there."

Colorado Players

PK Mason Crosby
ON THE UPS AND DOWNS OF THE SEASON--"We've always had a positive atmosphere; there was no negative.  I think that's helped a lot of guys to keep pushing.  We never gave up and we never quit.  We just kept working.  A 2-10 record is never going to look good."
ON 2-10 RECORD--"It's never something I've never dreamed of or wanted to have happen, but it's happened and the guys are going to be better people and better men.  The guys coming back and the guys who continue to play football are going to just be better all around, just because we've dealt with it."
ON THE LOSS--"It was disappointing.  It was close coming into the second half, but we just didn't capitalize and they did great.  They were calling great plays and they had us on our heels for a while."
ON NEBRASKA IN THE BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP--"Nebraska is a good team and I really hope they represent the North well in the Big 12 Championship."

QB Bernard Jackson
ON TEAMMATE MELL HOLLIDAY--"Holliday played exceptionally well.  He had a big run and did exceptional today."

ON THE SEASON BEING OVER--"The losing part (being over) is a relief.  Now that it's over, we'll just focus on next season and the offseason."
