Yari Escalera To Leave CU Basketball Program

BOULDER - University of Colorado sophomore guard Yari Escalera has been granted a release of her scholarship in order to pursue other opportunities, CU women's basketball head coach Kathy McConnell-Miller announced on Thursday.
Escalera played in all 30 games for Colorado in 2005-06, starting in 20. She averaged 7.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this last season and ranked fourth in the Big 12 Conference in free-throw percentage at .819. A native of Humacao, Puerto Rico, Escalera hit 54 3-point field goals over her two-year career ranking 12th on the Buffaloes' all-time list.
"We wish Yari the best," McConnell-Miller said. "We appreciate all of her contributions to our program."
CU finished the 2005-06 campaign 9-21 overall and 11th in the Big 12 at 3-13.
