CU Falls To No. 21 Oklahoma in Four

Buffs Fall To Baylor

WACO, Texas ? Lauren Schaefer tied a career-high with 19 kills on Saturday night, but it wasn't enough to propel the University of Colorado volleyball team past Baylor University as the Buffs fell 22-30, 30-22, 30-24, 17-30, 9-15.

 

The Buffs are 0-9 in five game matches this season and fell to 5-14 overall and 0-11 in the Big 12.

 

Three Colorado hitters recorded double-digit kills in the match. Schaefer led the Buffs with 19 kills, Mallori Gibson recorded 16 and Alex Buth notched 13.  The Buffs recorded a .195 hitting percentage in the match. Schaefer hit a team best at .515 with 19 kills on 33 attempts with two errors.

 

Kaitlyn Burkett dished out 55 of 61 assists for the Buffs. Buth added five and Callie Webster added the remaining assist.

 

Burkett had a good night on the serving line. She served up a career-high five aces.

 

Webster led CU with 19 digs. Buth recorded another double-double with 16 digs on the night. Ellen Henry recorded a career-high 14 digs. The Buffaloes recorded 75 digs in the match.

 

Schylur Edelman recorded six block assists to lead the Buffs. Colorado recorded just 6.0 team blocks on the night.

 

The Buffs will return home to host Oklahoma on Wednesday, Oct. 24. They will be hosting their first ?Dig For The Cure' night. The Buffs will join a nationwide initiative to help raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation with the fundraiser. The event helps promote Breast Cancer Awareness month throughout October.
