Colorado-Southern Utah Quotes

December 28, 2007 | Women's Basketball

Colorado Head Coach Kathy McConnell-Miller

GENERAL

“I thought that we came back from Christmas break very focused.  With a four day lay off not knowing the weather where they were and what they were going to be doing, and they traveled to all parts of the world, but when they came back they were focused.  I sensed a sign of maturity when they came back.  We got on the court and practiced.  We had two really good practices back to back and I thought that carried over to tonight's game.”

“Pressure initially really took Southern Utah out of it.  Instead of going three quarter we really pushed it and went toes to the baseline and turn them over a little bit and not let them get into their set at all.”

“We played a lot of combinations and a lot of players and came away from tonight's game feeling good about stretching the bench.”

ON TOP 25 RANKING - "It's a good compliment.  I don't think it means that much to us.  When you are this young you play every game like it's the most important one.”

ON BREAKING 1500 POINTS - “Right now the 9-2 record and being ranked in the top 25 is more important than 1500 points.”

Fr. F Brittany Spears

“I think we got out to a pretty good start because we started out pressuring the ball.  I like the zone press a lot, it forces a lot of turnovers.

ON TOP 25 -“We still have to work hard and practice everyday.  We don't feel any different.”

“We came and practiced hard, it carries over from practice to the games.  We practice hard and we play hard.”

“We play our game, that's how we got here.  We will continue to playing how we were playing.”

Southern Utah Head Coach Steve Hodson

“Coming into a game such as this you have to prepare in two ways.  First, you have to believe you can win.  We all know the story of Cinderella and how she got the slipper.  You always have to have that in the back of your mind.  Second, we had to understand that this is the 25th ranked team and they are a talented team.  We used this game to get better.  It's an amazing experience and a great opportunity.  It allows us as a team to gain experience and have the opportunity to be Cinderella and leave the ball with a prince.”

“This is a big time atmosphere and a big time experience.  I'm really pleased with the way we played, especially in the first half.  It was an 11/12 point game and then changed with foul trouble.  We're still a young team with a lot of freshman off the bench, but I'm extremely proud of my kids.”
