Hall and Powers Named CU Athletes of the Week

BOULDER-- Senior basketball players Marcus Hall (men's guard) and Susie Powers (women's guard), were named University of Colorado Athletes of the Week for the week of November 26-December 2. This is the first CU athlete of the week award of the year for both Hall and Powers. Hall now has three career honors, having earned one in both his freshman and sophomore seasons, this is Powers' first career honor.
Hall, a Houston, Texas (Jersey Village) native, averaged 17.3 points in three games this past week, leading Colorado to a 2-1 record. Hall also chipped-in 3.3 assists, three rebounds, 2.7 steals per game and 38 minutes. He played the entire game (40 minutes) against Air Force and Stanford. Hall scored 18 points in CU's 54-44 win at Denver; 18 in CU's 60-50 victory at Air Force; and 16 in the home loss against the Cardinals. CU's road victories at DU and Air Force marked the first time since the 1998-99 season, that they won back-to-back road games. The Buffaloes victory at Air Force ended the Falcons' 38-game home winning streak against non-conference foes. During the week, Hall also moved into eighth place on the school's all-time assists list (322).
Powers, a Centennial, Colo. (Highlands Ranch/Notre Dame) native, averaged 10.5 points in two game last week leading the Buffs to a 2-0 record against in state competition. Powers shot 4-for-7 from three-point range, grabbed seven rebounds (two offensive), dished out eight assists and one steal in CU's 69-60 win over Northern Colorado. In the Buffs' 82-47 road win over rival Colorado State she recorded nine points, five rebounds (two offensive), six assists and one block .
No other athletes were nominated for this week's award.
