No. 30 CU Netters Cruise 6-1 Over No. 68 Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. ? Sophomore Monica Milewski won her sixth straight singles match joining four other University of Colorado teammates to victory leading the Buffaloes to a 6-1 win over the host Missouri Tigers, Saturday afternoon at the Green Tennis Center.

CU is ranked No. 30th in the latest Fila/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll, their highest in 10 years and have won five of their last six matches improving to 8-3. The Buffs also remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0. Mizzou, ranked 68th falls to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in Big 12 play.

The Buffaloes won the doubles point sweeping all three positions for the single point and 1-0 lead. CU is 8-1 during the dual season when winning the doubles point.

Camila Belassi and Gleisy Torres Torres, CU's only nationally ranked team, broke a two-match losing streak and defeated Raquel Wagner and Katelyn McKenzie, 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Milewski and Franziska Jendrian cruised to an 8-2 winner over Erika Josbena and Amanda Pratzel for their eighth win in 10 outings this spring.

At No. 3, Melisa Esposito and Martina Sedivec remained unbeaten at 6-0 defeating Kaitlin Duhnam and Chrissy Svetlic, 8-5. It was Sedivec's 14th triumph in 15 outings this year and her seventh straight doubles win.

In singles, Milewski kept her longest winning streak of her career intact, rallying to defeat Erika Josbena 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 at the top singles position. Milewski remained unbeaten in conference play (4-0) and improved her dual record to 9-2.

CU claimed other singles points from Veera Nurmi, who defeated Chrissy Svetlic 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for her seventh victory; Jendrian swept Kaitlin Dunham at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0 for her eighth win; Torres Torres won in straight sets over Raquel Wagner 6-4, 6-2 for her ninth dual victory; and at No. 6, Esposito defeated Katelyn McKenzie 6-0, 6-1 for her sixth straight victory, improving her singles record 9-1 overall.

Esposito, Jendrian, Milewski and Torres Torres all remained unbeaten at 4-0 in Big 12 play.

CU returns to Boulder for a pair of home matches against No. 43 Oklahoma State (March 12) and against No. 9 William and Mary (March 14). Both matches are at the CU-Boulder South Campus Courts with the OSU match beginning at Noon, the W&M match at 2 p.m.
