2008 OUTLOOK: Anna did some varsity duty for us in cross country and will hope to do so again in the distance events this spring.

2007: Chase participated in the mile and 3,000-meter races in the indoor season. She ran a 5:55.25 mile at the Air Force Invite and an 11:27.20 mark in the 3k at the Potts Indoor Invite, taking fifth place. Chase competed in the 3k, 5k, and 10k races during the outdoor season. She earned a second-place finish in the 5k at the Jack Christianson Invite (18:18.79). She ran the 3k at the Potts Invite (10:48.97) and placed sixth. Her outdoor year was capped off with an 11th-place finish in the 10k at the Big 12 Outdoor at 38:11.23.

CROSS COUNTRY: Chase took 49th in her debut at the Rocky Mountain Shootout and was the ninth Buff to cross the finish. Chase competed at the Fort Hays Invite, taking ninth overall. She ran in the open race at pre-nats, taking 82nd and was 62nd (CU’s eighth) to cross the finish. Chase was again part of the varsity team in 2007. She finished 11th overall at the Rocky Mountain Shootout and scored for the Buffs as the fifth to cross the finish. Chase was also a member of the NCAA squad and placed 231st as CU’s No. 6.

HIGH SCHOOL: Chase was a member of all-state cross country team as a freshman, sophomore and senior. She missed out two track seasons while in Germany, but she does own school, district and regional records in the mile, 3,200 and the 5k.  In 2004, she was a member of the 10k German National Championship Team as a member of the club Bayer 04 Leverkusen, the Youth Cross Country National Championship Team and the National Youth Track Championship Team. Chase owns the 10k record for B-Youth in Northrhein-Westfalia (Germany) with a mark of 37:15.

Chase lists her personal records as 4:41 in the 1,500; 9:59 in the 3k, 17:27 in the 5k and 37:15 in the 10k.  

ACADEMICS: Chase intends to major in Chemistry at Colorado and is also interested in German. She was inducted into the National Honor Society as a senior. Chase was selected as one of two people to represent Virginia at the National Youth Science Camp, an all-expense paid three-week honors program for incoming college freshmen interested in pursuing a degree in the sciences. Chase earned a 4.0 in her first semester at CU.

PERSONAL: Anna Regina Chase was born on Sept. 5, 1987 in Werzlar, Germany. Her parents are Jim and Gudrun Rapp-Chase of Martinsville, Va. She has a younger brother, Max. Chase is fluent in German. Her hobbies include baking, visiting museums, traveling and creative projects. She has volunteered as a tutor in chemistry. Chase has had the opportunity to meet a number of Olympians at her track club in Germany, including Steffi Nerius who won the silver medal in the javelin at the 2002 Athens Olympics.
