BOULDER-- Men's golfer, Patrick Grady (junior), and tennis standout Monica Milewski (sophomore) were named University of Colorado Athletes of the Week for the week of April 2-8. This is the second CU athlete of the week award of the year for Grady and third for Milewski; they now have two and four, respectively, for their careers. Milewski is now tied for first on the tennis all-time winner list, and most single season wins by a tennis player, both with former teammate Jessica Vanderdys.
Grady, a Broomfield, Colo., (Broomfield) native, finished tied for 10th in Wichita State-Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic with a three-round total of 223 (70-75-78) it was his best finish of the spring season. All scores were high due to windy weather conditions. Grady led CU to an eighth overall finish in the windblown tournament.
Milewski, a Park Ridge, Ill., (Main South) native, rallied from a set down to defeat Denver's Annette Aksdal 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles lifting the No. 30 ranked Buffaloes to 4-3 victory over their in-state rival. Milewski, the No. 42 nationally ranked singles player in the country, trailed 5-4 in final set and needed to break serve to tie at five-all. She subsequently did so and then won three straight games for her 13th dual win. Milewski has 21 wins for the year, tying her for the team high.
