CU Cheer Squad Places Sixth At NCA Nationals

BOULDER -- The University of Colorado Cheer team finished in sixth place at the 2007 National Cheerleading Association (NCA) College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Colorado's 20-member entry participated in the Small Coed Division I section (four men or less) which is the largest competition at the championship. Oklahoma State won the team title with a 9.16 rating, just edging out defending champion Louisville which scored a 9.14. Charlotte was third at 8.63 followed by Middle Tennessee (8.52) and Florida International (8.47).

The Buffaloes scored an 8.42 in the finals. CU was in fourth place after the preliminary round with an 8.22.

The annual competition is held on an elevated stage just off the sandy beach of Daytona. The finals competition will be aired on a tape delayed basis by ESPN at a later date.
