Buffaloes Drop Big 12 Opener To Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas ? Alex Buth recorded a 20-20 double-double, but it wasn't enough as the University of Colorado volleyball team dropped a heartbreaker and its Big 12 Conference opener against Texas Tech 30-19, 30-24, 24-30, 27-30, 15-12 on Wednesday night in Lubbock, Texas.
Buth hammered a career-high 21 kills and picked up 23 digs to become the first Buff in almost five years to record a 20-20 double-double. The last Buff to do so was Nicole Carr on Sept. 13, 2002 against the University of Texas-Arlington. She recorded 20 kills and 24 digs. This was just the 23rd time any Buff has recorded a 20-20 double-double.
The Buffs hit below .100 in the first two games (-.022 in the first and .081 in the second), but came out of the intermission determined and fired back with a .267 attack percentage in the third and .148 in the fourth. The fifth game turned into a battle, but the Red Raiders were able to pull ahead of the Buffs and take the match despite a match-high hitting percentage for the Buffs of .273.
Callie Webster recorded 22 digs for the Buffs.
