Colorado equals its win total from the entire 2006-07 season (13-17)

 

Colorado improves to 32-28 against Kansas, 17-9 in Boulder. The Buffs have won four of the last five and 12-of-15 since 2001.

 

CU's 18-point margin of victory was its largest over Kansas since a 75-56 decision on Feb. 24, 2004.

 

This game marked the 10th time in the Colorado-Kansas series that one of the teams has failed to reach 50 points, eight of those instances are by Kansas. The last time it happened was a 59-49 win by Colorado in Lawrence on Jan. 13, 2004.

 

The Buffaloes have held six opponents to under 50 points this season. CU had held its opponent  under 50 just three times total in the previous three years combined.

 

Tonights margin of 18 was the highest by a Kathy McConnell-Miller led team in a Big 12 game, beating the previous margin of 14 against Iowa State on Jan. 10, 2007 (81-67).

 

The 41 points allowed to Kansas tie for the third lowest against a Big 12 opponent during the regular season. Three of the four lowest totals have come against the Jayhawks:

Colorado had sizeable scoring production from its young players and its bench tonight. Here's the breakdown by class as well as starters /bench:

Bianca Smith moved into sole possession of 10th place on CU's all-time 3-point list with 76. She had two 3-pointers on the night to pass Sabrina Scott who had 74 for the Buffaloes from 1999-2003.

 

Courtney Dunn scored a career high 9 points on 4-of-6 from the field. She has made 9 of her last 13 field goals (.692) over the last three contests. She is averaging 7.0 points and 5.0 rebounds over the last three as well.

 

Jackie McFarland made nine free throws to improve her career total to 482, leaving her 12 away from tying Bridget Turner's all-time mark of 494 from 1985-89
