BOULDER-- Men's basketball player Richard Roby (senior) and skier Lucie Zikova (senior), were named University of Colorado Athletes of the Week for the week of February 4-10.

Zikova earned her second athlete of the week honor of the year, and now has six career honors which moves her out of a tie with current teammate Maria Grevsgaard and into sole-possession of the all-time lead among skiers in career honors.  Zikova's six career honors ties her for eighth on Colorado's all-time winner list regardless of sport.  Roby now has four honors on the year which ties him for fourth all-time in single-year athlete of the week honors.  Roby's now has 11 career honors, which moves him out of a tie with Shaun Vandiver for the most career honors for men's basketball players and gives him the record.  He also moved into a tie for second place on the all-time list with current track and cross country star Jenny Barringer, both trail former track and cross country standout Adam Goucher who hold's the record with 14.

Roby, a San Bernardino, Calif. (Lawrence Academy [Groton, Mass.]) native, led Colorado to a 1-1 week averaging 20.5 points and six rebounds per game.  Roby scored a game-high 22 points with seven rebounds in CU's 64-63 loss at Oklahoma State. Later in the week, Roby shared team honors with 19 points in the Buffaloes home win over Oklahoma, 72-58.  His two-game total, Roby shot 10-for-16 from the field (.625 percent), 17-for-20 from the free throw line (.810 percent), and four-for-eight from the 3-point arc (.500 percent).  The 20-point effort was his eighth of the season (38th career) and for the season has led the Buffs in scoring 13 times (21.2 ppg).

Zikova, a Prague, Czech Republic (Gymnasium Ustavani 400/Ski Club Spindle) native, won the slalom at the New Mexico Invitational, her third victory this winter that in the process set a school record for the most career alpine wins by a male or female skier with her 13th.  She used the second fastest first run and third quickest second run for a combined time of 1:43.20, good for a 9/100ths of a second win over Denver's Jenny Lathrop.  Zikova finished second in the giant slalom in New Mexico, as teammate Katie Hartman beat her by 1/20th of a second.

I
t was Zikova's 10th career slalom win, tying teammate Maria Grevsgaard for the most victories in one discipline; Grevsgaard has 10 wins in classical competition.  John Skajem had won 12 alpine races during his career which spanned the 1985-87 seasons.
