Colorado, Arizona Notes
November 24, 2009 | Men's Basketball
Cory Higgins has led the team in scoring five straight times (one shared); he netted his fourth 20-plus scoring effort this season with 28 against Arizona, third highest scoring game of career (16, 20-point career).
Higgins has scored 117 points this season giving him 921 career points (31st at CU all-time).
Alec Burks tallied 19 points against Arizona, second highest scoring game and fifth game this season over double-digits.
Nate Tomlinson scored a career-best 20 points; first CU player other than Higgins, Burks and Dwight Thorne to score 20 or more in a game since Richard Roby scored 22 at Oklahoma State (Feb. 6, 2008).
Austin Dufault recorded his first career double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds); he's the first CU player to tally a double-double since Cory Higgins last year (Western State, 24 pts., 10 rebounds).
First meeting with Arizona since 1974 (CU still leads 8-5).
CU out-rebound Arizona 37-34, the second time the Buffs out-rebounded an opponent this year (Coppin State).
This isn't the first time a Steve McClain coached team has faced Gonzaga followed by Arizona in a tournament. In the 2002 NCAA Tournament, McClain's Wyoming Cowboys beat Gonzaga 73-66 in the first round before falling to Arizona 68-60 in the second round.
Arizona's 14 treys are the most 3-pointers CU has allowed since Oklahoma State (Feb. 25) made 13 last year in Boulder.
Fifth straight game CU placed at least four players over double-double.
CU is 0-4 in overtime games in the last two years (0-3 last year).
CU has lost 22 games in the last three seasons by single digits.
CU committed a season-low nine turnovers, however, eight were in the first half.
Second time this season, that CU had a pair of 20-point scorers (Texas Southern, the other).
