McKnight and Steinhaus Named CU Athletes Of The Week

BOULDER- Junior wide receiver Scotty McKnight (football) and sophomore outside hitter Rosie Steinhaus (volleyball), were named University of Colorado Athletes of the Week for the week of September 7- September 13. This is the first career honor for both McKnight and Steinhaus.
Steinhaus, a Flagstaff, Ariz. (Flagstaff) native, lifted the Buffs to a 2-1 record at the Colorado Invitational last weekend. She recorded a team-best 32 kills and hit .239 while adding 23 digs (second on the team) and nine block assists. Steinhaus recorded a career and team-high 14 kills in a three-set victory over Cal Poly on Saturday, while hitting a weekend best mark of .379; she also had seven digs and four blocks in the match. In a three set win against Denver, she recorded nine kills, eight digs and two block assists (hitting .209) and against No. 24 San Diego Steinhaus once again had nine kills, eight digs and three block assists. She averaged 3.56 kills, 2.56 digs and 1.00 blocks on the weekend.
McKnight, a Coto de Caza, Calif. (Tesoro) native, posted career bests for receptions and yards less than a week after suffering a concussion from an illegal hit by Colorado State. He tied the CU record for most receptions in a game, previously set by Michael Westbrook vs. Baylor at Waco, Sept. 12, 1992; Charles E. Johnson vs. Missouri at Columbia, Oct. 8, 1992; Derek McCoy vs. Washington State in Boulder, Sept. 13, 2003).
McKnight has now caught a pass in 26 consecutive games, one shy of the school regular season record of 27, set by Charles E. Johnson between 1991 and 1993 (including the 2007 Independence Bowl, McKnight has caught a pass in every collegiate game he has played; Johnson's streak including bowls was 29; CU is one of a handful of schools that does not include bowl stats for such records). He is also 21st all-time in receiving yards at CU (1,157); he vaulted five players into 16th against Toledo, and also jumped four players and is tied for ninth in allGÇÉtime receptions with 104.

Lowry scored CU's game winning goal against Utah on Friday. Lowry has started at defender in each of CU's seven games and she has played an integral part in Colorado's defense as the most experienced returning defender.
Golf: Sebastian Heisele, Sophomore, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Heisele finished 24th overall to lead the way for CU in the UNM Tucker Intercollegiate. He recorded a 4-over 220 scorecard on the 7,562-yard, par 72 UNM Championship Course to help CU to a 12th place finish in the 17-team field. He had CU's best single round in the meet, a 3-under 69 in the second round that was spread over two days; he was five under par when play was called due to weather on Friday.
