Burks, Jeffery Named CU Athletes of the Week

BOULDER--University of Colorado sophomore guards Alec Burks (men's basketball) and Chucky Jeffery (women's basketball) were named CU's Athletes of the Week for their performances in games played December 6-12.
Burks scored a game-high 25 points leading the Colorado men's basketball team to a 90-83 home overtime victory against in-state rival Colorado State. The victory improves the Buffaloes to 5-0 at home and a 5-3 overall record. It was also CU's 17-straight non-conference home victory. Burks went 8-for-16 from the field, including 9-for-10 at the free throw line for his sixth 20-point effort of the season. The sophomore from Grandview, Mo., also shared team-high honors on the glass with five rebounds and added a game-high two steals in 36 minutes of play.
Jeffery, a Colorado Springs, Colo. native, earned her fifth double-double of the season as she put up 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in CU's 73-49 victory over Colorado State. This double-double marks the sixth of her career. Jeffery has managed 13 rebounds three times this season which is a career high rebounding effort for her.
