Aggies Hold On Defeat Buffs, 5-2

BOULDER - University of Colorado senior Monica Milewski rallied to win her 89th career singles match, however the Buffaloes came up short on the scoreboard falling, 5-2 to the No. 36 ranked Texas A&M Aggies, Friday afternoon at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House. The match was moved indoors for the third time this spring season due to inclement weather.

The Buffaloes drop to 10-11 overall and 3-7 in the Big 12, while Texas A&M improves to 12-8 and 7-3 in conference play.

Milewski upset No. 59 Elze' Potgieter at the top singles slot, 6-3, 7-5 for her 24th win of the year and improved her Big 12 Conference singles record to 7-1. Milewski, who will graduate as the second all-time singles winner in school history, rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the second set. The triumph was her 12th victory in her last 14 singles matches.

The Aggies continued their dominance over the Buffaloes winning for the 12th straight time and securing the doubles point taking all three positions.

In singles, the Aggies went up 3-0 on the scoreboard taking the No. 2 and No. 3 slots in straight sets. Milewski cut the home team's deficit to 3-1, then sophomore Michala Hedelund Jensen defeated Sheri Olivier, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 narrowing the CU deficit to 3-2. 

Hedelund Jensen won her 14th match of the year and eighth of the spring.

The nationally ranked Aggies took the No. 5 and No. 6 lines in straight sets for the 5-2 win.

CU wraps up the home regular season at the South Campus Courts against No. 19 Texas on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
