Jeffery, Dufault Receive CU Athlete of the Week

Jeffery, originally from Colorado Springs, Colo. (Sierra), received recognition after putting up 11 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals to help push Colorado to a 74-52 win over Colgate on December 30. It was Jeffery's sixth double-double of the season (career seventh). The 5-foot-10 sophomore now leads the Big 12 Conference in double-doubles and her seven steals are a career and team season-high. It was just the 21st time a Buff has registered seven or more steals in a game, and the first since Damietta Velicica had seven against Tulane on December 6, 1997. Jeffery, who currently leads the Big 12 and ranks seventh in the nation at 3.5 steals per game, has had six steals in two other games this season and has at least three steals in eight of 12 games.
Dufault, originally from Killdeer, N.D. (Killdeer), received the athlete of the week honor after averaging 14 points and eight rebounds per game as the Buffs won back-to-back games last week. CU's first victory was at home in a 92-65 decision over Maryland Eastern Shore; the second came on the road in an 85-73 win over Cal State Bakersfield. Dufault scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds against UMES, shooting an impressive 7-of-9 from the field and hitting all three of his free throw attempts. At CSUB, the 6-foot-9 junior just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine boards as the Buffs won their first true road game of the season.
The CU men's basketball team improved to 10-4 on the season and get ready for their final non-conference game against Western New Mexico on Wednesday (7 p.m. MDT) before both men and women embark on the final Big 12 season which starts Saturday. The women will travel to Texas A&M (6 p.m. MDT) as the men welcome Missouri (11:30 a.m. MDT) to the Coors Events Center.
