Colorado, Wichita State Quotes

November 17, 2011 | Men's Basketball

Colorado Head Coach Tad Boyle

General--"I thought tonight's game was one we let slip away. I give WSU the credit because they are good but I do think it was one that we let slip away. They're an experienced team and their program is solid and deep. They lost four good players from last year as did we, but they have a depth on their team and there's not many programs that can do that."

Speaking about his team--"We tell our guys all the time in practice, the importance of the box out and I believe that was critical in this game. One of the strengths of our team last year was going to the free throw line 28-30 a game. We can get better but I like the way my team competed, we lost against a good team.

Thoughts against Maryland--"I think the mentally tougher team will win tomorrow. They have 24 hours to prepare and we have a little less than 24 hours, but I think that mental toughness is what will win, because both teams will be physically tired."

Wichita State Head Coach Gregg Marshall

General--"Hard fought game like we knew it would be.  I give lots of respect for their club. They have amazing talent. We didn't do a very good job in the first half going to the glass, but we'll work on it. It's still early. Overall it was a good win for us. It was a good team we played against and their only going to get better with their coaching and the young talent that they have."

Talking about the first win in the first game in 3 years--"Our goal is to win the tournament. You can't win the tournament if you don't win the first game and I know we have a top 15 team against us tomorrow but this is also a big team and our guys understand that."
