Two Freshmen Honored As CU Athlete Of The Week

BOULDER - Women's basketball guard Lexy Kresl (freshman) and men's basketball guard Spencer Dinwiddie (freshman) are recognized as CU's Athlete of the Week for their performances the week of Dec. 19 - Dec. 25.
Kresl was named to the UTSA Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team after hitting a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer to beat Creighton, 52-49. The win preserved CU's second perfect non-conference regular season in program history (11-0). The Paradise Valley, Ariz. native (Shadow Mountain) made a career-high six field goals against the Bluejays finishing with 15 points while tying personal bests with 11 field-goal attempts and six rebounds. In the opening round game against UT-Pan American Kresl tied for the team lead with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Through her first 11 career games, Kresl has two or more three-pointers in nine games.
Dinwiddie, from Woodland Hills, Calif. (Taft), averaged 15.5 points in leading the Buffs to two home wins over CSU Bakersfield and Texas Southern. Dinwiddie scored a career-high 18 points against Texas Southern, going 5-of-7 from the field, with all five makes coming from beyond the three-point arc. Four of his five three-point makes came during a 19-2 first-half run that allowed CU to take a 20-point lead. Dinwiddie scored 13 points in the victory over CSU Bakersfield.
