Coleman Sets School Records At Pac-12 Championships

STANFORD, Calif. - The University of Colorado women's golf team saw the first day of its spring season cut short due to rain here at the 2011 Peg Barnhard Invitational, hosted by Stanford over the weekend. Teams got through just under two-thirds of the first round before the rain got the better of the course.

The Buffs are in a four-way tie for third place at 12-over par as teams have players reported scores from between five and 11 holes of the shotgun start. California leads the way at 2-over par and holds a nine-stroke advantage over the field as Washington State is second at 11-over par. The Buffs are tied with the host Cardinal, UC Davis and Santa Clara.

"It's been raining really since we got here," CU head coach Anne Kelly said. "The course is saturated and the greens are going under water. The plan is to tee off tomorrow, finish the first round and play the second."

The Buffs are led by freshman Jenny Coleman, who is 1-over par through nine holes with one birdie and two bogies and is tied for third place. Junior Emily Talley is 3-over par through nine holes and tied for 18th place. She is 1-over par on her last seven holes after a double bogey on her second hole of the day.

Junior Jess Wallace and freshman Kristin Coleman both sit at 4-over par and are both through 10 holes and are tied for 30th while sophomore Taylor Doyle is tied for 51st at 6-over par through eight holes. Freshman Tessa The is playing individually and is tied for 43rd at 5-over par through five holes.

Play is scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. local time Sunday. The 36-hole event is being played at the Stanford Golf Course and is a par 71 layout over 6,148 yards.
