Razorbacks Blank Buffs, 7-0
February 25, 2011 | Tennis
Arkansas improved to 5-0 at home and dominated from the start winning all three doubles matches and continuing that into singles where each match was won in straight sets.
The Hogs and Buffs started things with doubles and it didn't take long before Arkansas secured the first match win. On court three, the team of Valentina Starkova and Jade Frampton scored an 8-2 victory over Carla Manzi Tenorio and Winde Janssens for the first Razorback doubles win and their 11th win as a team.
The 37th-ranked team of Anouk Tigu and Claudine Paulson would follow suit on court one with an 8-1 victory over Michala Hedelund Jensen and Abbie Probert giving Arkansas the doubles point. Stephanie Roy and Kate Lukomskaya finished things off in doubles with their own 8-7(3) win in a tiebreaker over Ania Anuszkiewicz and Kristina Schleich.
In singles, the Razorbacks seemed to take that early momentum from doubles right into singles getting first set wins across the board in all six matches.
Because it was a non-conference match, Arkansas and Colorado played out the remaining three matches and continued to roll with wins from Tigu, Paulson, and Emily Carbone, who now has 16 wins overall this season.
CU takes on No. 48 Rice (7-3) Saturday at noon at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
