Big 12 Championship Notes
Kansas improves to 30-7 in the Big 12 Championship and 9-4 in semifinal games. The Jayhawks have won five straight games, including the 2010 title game. KU is 17-3 all-time as a No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Championship.
Colorado falls to 9-15 all-time in the Big 12 Championship and 0-1 in semifinal games. The Buffaloes are 3-2 as the No. 5 seed.
This is only the second meeting between the two teams in the Big 12 Championship and KU has won both contests.
The top-seeded team improves to 28-8 all-time while the No. 5 seed moved to 20-15.
Kansas advances to face the winner of the semifinal game between Nos. 2 and 3 seeds Texas and Texas A&M. The Jayhawks are making their ninth appearance in the title game, which continues to be the top mark in the Big 12 Championship history.
Bill Self extended his Big 12 Championship-leading coaching record to 15-3.
Kansas City-area native Alec Burks has been dominant in his hometown, scoring 20 or more points in all three Big 12 Championship games this week, giving him a total of 76.
Marcus Morris finished with 20 points and has now reached double-digit points in his last five Big 12 Championship games.
Individual & Team Notes
Alec Burks moved into third place all-time on Colorado's single-season scoring list with a second-chance layup at 19:43 in the second half. Burks scored 23 against Kansas and now has 682 points in 2010-11. Burks also tied his season-high mark of six assists. This is the third time this season he has matched the feat.
Markieff Morris blocked two shots to bring his career total to 98, tying Paul Pierce for No. 17 all-time.
Marcus Morris moved into a tie at No. 28 on KU's all-time scoring list, tying Eric Chenowith with 1,281 career points.
Kansas made a season-best 29 free throws and shot .879 (29-33) from the stripe marking on the third time this season the Jayhawks have shot higher than 80 percent.
This is the eighth time in 2010-11 that Kansas has scored 90 or more points.
