Colorado-Wyoming Quotes
March 24, 2011 | Women's Basketball
Colorado Head Coach Linda Lappe
On Brittany Spears
"She was hot, so we just kept going to her and running sets for her. Our team did a great job of making the open pass and setting great screens for her to get open and she did a nice job of hitting them and knocking them down."
On the team's composure when Wyoming cut the lead to three
"I think the Nebraska game really helped us out tonight. This was a completely different experience; I don't think I've been in a facility where it's been louder than it was here tonight at a few of those times. You really couldn't hear and the crowd was into it. For us not to give up the lead I thought was huge. You have to give our players a lot of credit. They lost their composure for a little period of time, but we were able to regain it and that shows a lot of growth."
On the disparity between the free throws
"It's always tough when you don't get to the free throw line and there is a huge disparity. But they were attacking as well. You know you're going to get that when you go on the road, you know that coming in, we just have to make sure we don't let anything effect us and we come in and have a narrow focus during the game. Not letting anything affect us, I thought our team really took that to heart. We didn't get upset with calls, we just regrouped and went down and took care of business on the offensive end."
On the teams three-point shooting of late
"We know where our shots are coming from and getting our feet set and taking them. I like the pace of our offense right now; we're not in a rush and not trying to do things we can't. We have great ball reversals and we're moving it and we're really just taking what the defense gave us. This is the second [game] in a row where we're just playing and whatever the defense gives us we're taking. We're stepping in with confidence and knocking down shots."

Chucky Jeffery, So., G
ON THE NERVES IN THE SECOND HALF - "The crowd got going and they were giving them confidence when they were down but we knew what we had to do on defense, we had to get stops. It was kind of nerve-wracking at times, but we pulled through."
ON THE ATMOSPHERE IN THE GYM - "I don't think I've ever played in any gym louder than that. It was pretty exciting, but it was pretty fun to actually hear them go quiet too."
ON THE MOMENTUM AFTER BRITTANY SPEARS GOT HER FOURTH FOUL - "I think at that point the girls shot free throws, so when we knew Spears was going out we said, 'Okay, look, Spears is out so everybody has to bear down and go the extra mile and do what they have to do."
Brittany Spears, Sr., F
ON HER FIRST HALF PERFORMANCE - "It was just one of those nights, I guess. I felt pretty good shooting the ball. The ball felt kind of light to me so I know that if I got it up, it would go in."
ON THE TEAM'S CONCERN IN THE SECOND HALF - "We weren't worried at all because we had the lead all game. We knew we had to play defense and stop fouling them and keep our hands up."
