Morris, Wallace Receive CU Athlete of the Week Awards

Morris, originally from Golden, Colo. (Golden/Tennessee), finished first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.32, improving his time by .05 seconds to lead the University of Colorado track and field team over the weekend at the LSU Gold Alumni in Baton Rouge, La. The five-foot-eleven sprinter was the Colorado State 4A 100-meter dash champion during his senior year at Golden High School. Spending one year at the University of Tennessee, Morris transferred to Colorado in 2010.
Wallace, originally from Langley, B.C. (Walnut Grove/Pepperdine), receives recognition after shooting a 1-under par 215 over 54 holes to take fourth place at the 2011 Big 12 Championships this past weekend in Columbia, Mo. Wallace shot a 1- over par 73 in the first round, a 2-under par 70 in the second round and an even par 72 in the third round. Her fourth place finish at the Big 12 Championships matches the best in the school's history, tying Sara Bellinger's performance from 1999. Her score of 215 over 54 holes is the best in CU's history for a single round, while her 33 on the back nine is the best for a Big 12 Championship and ties for sixth best in school history. Wallace's performance over the weekend earned her first-team All-Tournament honors.
On April 25, it was announced that the women's golf team was selected to participate in the 2011 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships which will take place May 5-7, 2011 in Daytona Beach, Fla. This marks only the second time in CU's history that the team has earned a bid to the NCAA Championships.

Sophomore Emily Hunsucker put forth an outstanding performance in the hammer throw over the weekend at the Jack Christiansen Invite in Fort Collins, Colo. Improving her best throw by 10 feet, she finished fourth in Saturday's event with a toss of 176-08.
