Colorado-USC Notes
January 27, 2012 | Women's Basketball
TEAM
- Colorado wins the seventh all-time meeting between the two teams in a thrilling 69-67 win at home. The Buffs are now 3-4 in the series and snapped a four-game USC win streak.
- Colorado gets its 15th win of the season (15-4). This win equals the 2010-11 regular season win total (CU finished 18-16 with three postseason WNIT wins). The Buffs move to an even 4-4 in Pac-12 play.
- The Buffs have won seven-straight games decided by five points or less. They are 4-0 this season in games of this margin. In her coaching career, Linda Lappe is 8-2 in games decided by five points or less.
- Colorado led in rebounds 34-32 and now has been even or outrebounded its opponent in 14 of 19 games this season. The Buffs margin of plus-6.8 ranks third in the Pac-12.
- Colorado is now an even 2-2 this season when its opponent leads at the half.
- The Colorado bench has been outstanding, scoring 33 percent of the teams total points this season. However, tonight the bench scored just six points with 53 of the 69 points coming from Brittany Wilson, Chucky Jeffery, and Jen Reese.
- Colorado's 69 points is its highest total in Pac-12 play and best overall since scoring 77 against Weber State on Dec. 17.
- Jeffery had three steals tonight moving her career total to 177. This is good for 10th best in Colorado history. Tonight she passed Mandy Nightingale (1998-02) who had 175.
- With 19 points Jeffery has now scored in double-digits in 16 of Colorado's 19 games this season. She now has 972 points in her career, leaving her 28 shy of 1,000.
- Wilson had three 3-pointers tonight moving her career total to 52. This is good for a tie with Anna Nedovic (2003-07) at 16th all-time for Colorado. Wilson's three 3-pointers tie her season high which came against Utah (12/31/11).
- This is the third 20+ point game of her career and the second straight game leading the team in points. She has now led the team in points three times this season.
- It was her first game with multiple 3-pointers since she had two at Washington and the first in multiple 3-point game in four contests for any Buffalo since Jeffery had three against California.
- Malcolm-Peck's one 3-point field goal moved her into a tie for 12th all-time at Colorado with 74. She shares the spot with Sabrina Scott (1999-03).
- Reese made her second career start tonight and shot 55 percent from the field. Reese ranked 10th in the Pac-12 before the game with a field goal percentage 50 percent this season.
