Trio of MBB Players Earn Pac-12 Conference Honors

Sophomore forward Andr+¬ Roberson was named to the All-Pac-12 first- and to the All-Defensive teams; senior guard Carlon Brown was named to the conference second team; and freshman guard Spencer Dinwiddie was named to the All-Freshman team.
California senior guard Jorge Gutierrez was named the 2011-12 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Year and Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year; Washington guard Tony Wroten has been named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year; Washington State junior forward Brock Motum has been named Pac-12 Most Improved Player of the Year; and Lorenzo Romar of Washington is the Pac-12 Coach of the Year.
Roberson leads the Pac-12 in double-doubles (8), rebounding (10.9), blocked shots (2.3), and is 14th in steals (1.3). He is one of just two players to be ranked in the top 14 in the conference in both blocks and steals for all games. Roberson's combined blocks and steals per game rank best in the conference in both Pac-12 games and overall.
He is the second CU player in as many years to garner the conference first team as Alec Burks was a unanimous selection a year in the Big 12, and first player to be named to an all-Conference Defensive team since David Harrison in 2003-04.
Roberson is averaging more defensive rebounds per game (8.0) than any other player in the conference is averaging total rebounds per game. Roberson is on the verge of becoming CU's first double-double player since the 2001-02 season. Already the holder of the most defensive rebounds in school history (240), Roberson is 10 rebounds from the season school record for boards, set 58 years ago by Burdette Haldorson (346, 1954-55).
Brown from Riverside, Calif., leads the Buffaloes in scoring averaging 12.2 points per game and has started all 30 games. Brown is first in three-pointers made (39) and second in assists (62) on the CU team.
Dinwiddie has also started every game for the Buffs, ranks third among Pac-12 freshmen by averaging 10.3 points per game on the season. In addition, he ranks first among conference frosh (fifth overall) in free throw percentage (100-of-122, 82.0 percent) and three-point percentage (fifth overall; 36-of-83, 43.4 percent). The Woodland Hills, Calif. native, is the only Pac-12 freshman (and one of just four Pac-12 qualified players overall) to be shooting over 40 percent from the field, over 40 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and over 80 percent from the free throw line.
Dinwiddie is the first CU freshman to earn All-Freshman honors since Burks was named in 2009-10 to the Big 12 Conference team.
CU is the No. 6 seed at this year's Pac-12 Tournament and will play No. 11 seed Utah at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday, March 7 at 9:40 p.m. (MT). The game will be televised by FSN.
