Colorado-Utah Notes

Colorado advances to play #2 California tomorrow at 6 p.m. MST. They lost both games to the Bears this season.

Colorado, now 18-12, ties its win total from last season (18-16).

Colorado snaps a four-game conference tournament losing streak, winning a first round game for the first time since the 2007 Big 12 Tournament vs. Texas Tech (71-67). It was Colorado's first conference tournament win over a higher seed since the 2000 Big 12 Tournament when the No. 10 Buffs defeated No. 7 Missouri 83-68.

Colorado held Utah to 15 first half points, tying for the second lowest total of the season (UTPA) and also was the fewest in postseason play since holding Iowa State to 12 (28-12) in the first round of the 1997 Big 12 Tournament. Utah's 41 points are the fewest allowed by CU since defeating Denver 71-36 on Dec. 8, 2011 and the fewest in postseason play since the 1997 Big 12 game against ISU (56-39).
Each team made its Tournament debut tonight. The teams split their two regular season games.

After a total of two upsets (as measured by the seedings) in 2010 and 2011, this Tournament has seen three in its first four games.

Colorado is a perfect 15-0 this season when holding its opponent to under 60 points.

Colorado's Brittany Wilson scored 21 points, one point off her season/career high. Her 18 first-half points tied for the most by a CU player this season (Chucky Jeffery 18 vs. Idaho, first half). Wilson had three 3-pointers for the third time this season. It was also her fourth career 20-point game, third this season.

Utah was held to its lowest point total of the season (42, at Stanford on Feb. 25).

Colorado's Brittany Wilson and Jeffery each scored in double figures, the 12th and 26th times this season, respectively. Jeffery also reached double figures in rebounds, giving her a double-double for the 7th time this season and 17th of her career.

Utah's Wicijowski scored in double figures for the 24th time this season.

Brittany Wilson scored Colorado's first 7 points of the game before Chucky Jeffery made 2 free throws at 14:44. Jeffery was the second Buffalo to score from the field at 11:20.

Cheyenne Wilson scored 8 of Utah's first 10 points. Taryn Wicijowski and she scored all of Utah's 15 first half points.

After Utah took a 10-8 lead on a Wilson 3-point field goal at 14:28, Colorado held the Utes scoreless for 9:05 before a Taryn Wicijowski free throw made the score 16-11, Colorado. Utah did not make another field goal until 0:49 before the end of the half, missing 16 shots in the interval.

Ashley Wilson had a career-high four free-throws made.

Jeffery and Wilson each hit 20 points. It's the first time two CU players have scored 20 points or more in the same game since Jeffery had 21 and Brittany Spears had 20 against Colorado State on Dec. 8, 2010.

Jeffery was 10-of-16 from the free throw line both numbers career highs and team season-highs.
