Colorado-Oregon Notes
October 05, 2013 | Football
QUICKLY Colorado lost its 10th straight Pac-12 game today? (school record; old mark was eight twice) ... The teams combined for 493 yards of offense in the first quarter (UO 262, CU 231), when they also combined for 12 possessions ... Colorado led for 6:29 in the first quarter, the most any team has led Oregon in five games this year (Tennessee led Oregon for 5:26 in the first quarter of their game); the 10 first quarter points were the most by an opponent in a quarter against UO this year ... Colorado had 318 yards in the first half, just 2.5 yards shy of what Oregon came in allowing per game (320.5); but the Buffs managed just 56 after halftime ...
Oregon's 755 yards of total offense were the second most ever against a CU defense, trailing 875 by Oklahoma in an 82-42 loss on Oct. 4, 1980 (758 of those were rushing). Today did mark the first time a team amassed at least 400 of either rushing or passing and 300 of the other (406 pass/349 rush); the 406 passing yards were the 13th most ever by an opponent ... Colorado was 0-of-15 on third down, eclipsing its old worst mark on the down, as the Buffs were 0-of-13 against Kansas State in a 20-14 loss at Manhattan on Nov. 6, 1999.
The 75-yard TD pass from WR to WR, Paul Richardson to D.D. Goodson, was the third this season by CU of 75 yards or longer (Richardson caught the other two, 82 and 75 yards against Colorado State from QB Connor Wood); the last and only other time CU had three 75-yard pass plays in the same season came in 2003 (Joel Klatt threw two of 82 and 78 yards to Derek McCoy versus CSU in Denver and Erik Greenberg an 81-yard TD pass to Jeremy Bloom against Florida State).
WR PAUL RICHARDSON (5-134-0 TD) He had his fourth play of 50 yards or longer this season (55-yard reception to open the game), and it was the 10th of his career. It was his third 100-yard game of the season, giving him six for his career, now tied for fourth all-time at Colorado.? He also threw and completed his first career pass, going for a touchdown (75 yards to WR D.D. Goodson).
--For the year, "P-Rich" now has 31 catches for 621 yards, 20.0 per, with five touchdowns. That is over halfway to CU's season record of 1,149, set by Charles E. Johnson on 57 receptions in 1992.
CB GREG HENDERSON (2 INT) He is the first Buff to make two interceptions in the same game since Oct. 27, 2007, when CB Terrence Wheatley snared three at Texas Tech. He now has four on the season, the most by a player since Wheatley had five in both 2006 and 2007.
LINER NOTES
DE Chidera Uzo-Diribe He had another forced fumble today, giving him four in as many games; that's now nine in his career. Those are the most in a season since ILB Jashon Sykes set the school mark of seven in 1999, and Uzo-Diribe is now two shy of the CU career mark, held by Brian Cabral (11, 1974-77).
TB Michael Adkins (5-19 rush) made his first career start today, becoming the 20th true freshman to start a game at running back in CU history.
ILB Addison Gillam (15 TT, 2 TFL, 1 QBS, 4 3DS) will need all those numbers verified after the coaches grade the video, but all 15 of his stops were credited as solo tackles. It was also give 11 third down stops for the season (CU record is 19).
P Darragh O'Neill had five punts inside-the-20, one shy of his own record (6 vs. Oregon in Boulder two years ago). CU started just two drives at or inside its 20 today, while UO started six.
