CU-CSM Postgame Quotes
November 03, 2013 | Women's Basketball
Colorado Head Coach Linda Lappe
General
“We came out and did a much better job running in transition, moving the ball up the floor fast, and also defensively being able to get stops and not bail them [CSM] out like we did in the first half. All in all, it was a great start to where we're at, where we need to go. It was pretty close to where I thought we'd be at and a lot of people stepped up and played well. We had really good support from a lot of different players; great rebounding from a lot of different players; all around pretty good effort from our team.”
On Playing With New Defensive Rules
“The rule change is just a learning process. It was great to have officials out there to be able to call some fouls that we've tried to call in practice but don't get the same effect. I thought we adjusted very well; we did a much better job in the second half of keeping our hands off and moving our feet.”
On How The Offense Ran Today Without True PG
“I think Lexy [Kresl] and Jasmine [Sborov] did a fantastic job playing our point today. They've been running it in practice every single day. 11 assists and two turnovers from both of them combined as a point guard is pretty good. It doesn't matter who you are playing, those are good numbers. They did a great job of really pushing the ball in the second half, making some nice passes, made some really good decisions, so we were really happy with where they're at.”
On Team Passing
“We focused a lot on our passing and making sure they zipped and were crisp. We carried that over; the last two days at practice have been outstanding. We were pretty sloppy last week, so we spent a lot of time on it. It was just 'hit the open player.' Sometimes in games like this, you can get into, 'It's my turn to shoot.' We never did that. I can count on one hand the times that we actually took a bad shot. We took the shot that we should have taken, we made the pass that we should have made, and that was really good to see from our team.”

On Playing Her First College Game
“I'm just grateful to get playing time and get on the floor with my teammates. I owe all of those shots to great passes and great screens and we played very cohesively as a team and it's exactly what we worked on in practice, so it feels pretty good.”
On Her Stress Fracture
“I felt [back] at the end of the season. When we were doing post season workouts, I was almost back to 100 percent, and so as we continued to work into the summer, I continued to get healthy. In June I was about 100 percent.”
Arielle Roberson, So., F
On The New Defensive Rule Changes
“Yeah there was definitely a difference. For me, playing around perimeter defense, you can't hand check. Post defense, not so much. But, since the coaches have been working on calling it during practice, it wasn't that big of a shift. But, I think after the first few calls, we adjusted.”
On Her Excitement For The Season Opener
“ I was anxious for this one, but the next one will be a lot better because it's against CSU, so that will be fun. I don't think I'm anxious. I just feel ready to get out there, ready for the season to start officially. I'm excited to get back on the court with my team and keep working towards our end goal.”
Colorado School of Mines Head Coach Brittany Simpson
On the Tough Exhibition Learning Experiences
“I think for us it really exposes where we need to get better. On the defensive end, we have a lot of things to fix. The thing is, I think it's all fixable. We just weren't at the right spots at the right time tonight. I think we can fix that stuff.”
On Effects of the Rule Change
“Playing these last few games I didn't notice it too much. It didn't really affect anything we were trying to do. Bottom line is that we were really out of position. I think it will change a lot of the game although I didn't see it too much tonight.”
