Colorado-Washington Notes

November 09, 2013 | Football

Players who carried out CU's symbolic instruments today:
Sledgehammer: OT Jack Harris  Toolbox: DT Nate Bonsu

QUICKLY  Washington now leads the all-time series 8-5-1, having won the last five meetings (the first three with both as members of the Pac-12) … The five straight wins ties the second longest current winning streak over CU; USC has won seven straight and Missouri and Texas also own wins the last five times out against the Buffs … Colorado is now 1-8 on the coin toss in 2013, winning it for the first time last week but losing it tonight … CU is 1-2 in the gold helmet/white uni/gold pant in 2013 … Colorado is now 79-34 against teams with three or more losses dating back to the 1985 season … Since 1989, CU is now 56-38-1 in their last 95 November games (50-26 against all-comers aside from Nebraska, going 6-12-1 against the Huskers, and 51-15 against unranked teams) ... ILB Clay Norgard saw his first career action tonight, playing on special teams (kickoff return unit) … Of the 70 players on the trip, 58 played in the game (though six are redshirting) … Several former Buffs were in attendance tonight: Sulu Petaia, who relocated to Seattle; Willie Brock and Pat Dunn, also in the area; and eight who flew in from Colorado: Alfred Williams, Daniel Graham, Victor Rogers (who is from here), Albus Brooks, Marlon Barnes, Roman Hollowell, Jelani Bryant and Joel Harris …

WR PAUL RICHARDSON (3-77-1 TD)P-Rich" now has 60 catches for 1,061 yards, 17.7 per, with nine touchdowns this season, and for his career, he has 133 for 2,130 yards and 20 touchdowns (seventh, sixth and tied for second, respectively, all-time at CU), as he continues to inch closer to all the CU season marks: 78 receptions (D.J. Hackett, 2003), 1,149 yards (Charles E. Johnson, 1992) and 11 TDs (Derek McCoy, 2003).
- His 53-yard TD reception was his ninth of the season, just the fourth Buff to have that many in a year; the nine have covered 465 yards, or 51.7 per; his 20 career have spanned 836 yards (41.8).

His 53-yard TD reception also was his 13th career play of 50 yards or longer, the seventh in 2013; both are modern day Colorado records (the only players possibly with more would have been Kayo Lam in 1935 and Byron White in 1937, but those records do not exist).

ILB ADDISON GILLAM (3,2—5 TT)It will be confirmed in the morning from coaches video review, but he set a record for the most tackles by a freshman in single season school history with the unofficial count of five tonight.  CU's freshmen tackle bests (*—denotes redshirt frosh):

COLORADO INJURIES S Parker Orms (stinger) returned to action and is probably for California. WR Paul Richardson (sprained ankle vs. Arizona, though played last week at UCLA) wore a protective boot the last two days and was able to play; he was pulled in the second half to not risk further injury. Older: OLB Woodson Greer suffered a stinger (neck) in practice on Wednesday; he traveled here but did not play and is also listed as day-to-day.

TB Christian Powell (12-73, 0 TD) jumped from 44th to 40th on CU's all-time rushing list (ending the game with 1,140 yards).

ILB Ryan Severson (8-171 KOR) tied for the second most kickoff returns in a game (eight) at Colorado, with the 171 yards the fifth-most ever.
