CU-STAN Postgame Quotes

February 28, 2013 | Men's Basketball

University of Colorado Head Coach Tad Boyle

General
"Andre (Roberson) was terrific tonight, and then Spencer (Dinwiddie) I thought was great. When he plays aggressive offensively he has the ability to make plays not only for himself. But he'll get the ball to the rim, that dunk he had in the second half was a big-time dunk. When (Dinwiddie) attacks the rim and Andre shoots the way he shot tonight, those two guys are pretty special. The thing I'm proud about is that our guys have taken a little bit of a play out of the Colorado football playbook and we're singing the fight song in the locker room after wins now, so I appreciate the tradition that you guys (Chad Brown) set and every former football player. That is the new tradition for Colorado basketball, and it was Beau Gamble that started it for us. It is special."

On The Last Play Of The Game
"I saw the ball in his hands, and thank God he tried to dunk it because I saw the ball in his hands and I saw the light go off. So, I knew the referees had to go and check the monitor, I understand that, but I was trying to go down and shake (Stanford's) hands to get off the floor and not let it go to OT. But again, that was a break that this team needs and deserves. That was a good play, we pre-switched it."

On Poor Offensive Spurts
"When the shots aren't going in, there is not a heck of a lot you can do, other than asking, 'are we getting good shots? Are the right guys shooting?' And if that's the case you just have to stick with it."

On Magnitude Of Victory
This is a good team we beat now, these guys are talented. Chasson Randle and (Dwight) Powell, and (Aaron) Bright, the list can go on. We're a good team, and to do this without Josh Scott, two games in a row, and now on the road is a testament to the heart that the Buffaloes showed and I couldn't be more proud of our players, they deserved it."

On Josh Scott's Status
"He is getting closer every day. We wouldn't have brought him on this trip if we didn't think he could play in one of these two games but if he does, or doesn't, I don't know that."

On Andre Roberson Playing Sick
"To do that when he was sick is a testament to what that kid is all about."

On CU Fans In Attendance
"Absolutely, the Bay Area is a big alumni base for the University of Colorado, and we want them every year we come out here to come out a little bit more and a little bit more. They were good here last year but we didn't give them the performance we gave them tonight. But there should be a lot of Buffaloes around the country proud listening back at home on the radio and this being a national TV game it was a big night for our program."

Junior, Forward, Andre Roberson

On Being Sick
"This morning I woke up feeling a little sick and woozy, but I drank a lot of fluids, took some medicine, but (Trainer Trae Tashiro) had me on the right path and I had to come out here and take care of business. You have to fight through it, I had to get some food in mean earlier this morning, drank a lot of fluids, went outside and caught some rays. I'm liking that better than the snow. Putting on a show like that wasn't tough. "

On Magnitude Of Win
"This means a lot for us, also in terms of Pac-12 standings, we're still fighting for the fourth seed, trying to get a bye in the tournament, so we'll see how it goes. We have a tough one on Saturday (at Cal), we have to take care of business."

Putting The Team On His Shoulders
"Everybody knew we had to step up, not just me and Spencer (Dinwiddie), and if they didn't play well on the offense, they had to play well on the defensive end. With Josh (Scott) being a big part of this team we all knew we had to step up in some way. I think our guys did that for the most part."

On Spencer Dinwiddie Dunk
"He had a couple opportunities to do it the whole night, and instead he was finishing with finesse finger rolls. But you know, he finally put one down, everybody had been giving him crap for it in the locker room."

On Guarding Dwight Powell
"It was definitely a challenge, but I enjoy guarding the best player, it means a lot. Powell is a great player, and I had to attack him early, and X. Johnson helped me out a lot getting him in foul trouble early. But he came out in the second half and got a couple buckets but I just tried to slow him down as much as I could."

On Final Play
"I knew it wasn't good. I knew they were going to try to get the three or attack the rim. I played the three and then I tried to play the two as well and I slowed him down a little bit by bumping him, but he got past me and I was like, 'Oh shoot, he got past me'. So, I was scared for a little bit, my heart dropped, luckily the ball was still in his hand when the light went off so I was glad."
