March 09, 2013 | Men's Basketball
GAME FLOW NOTES
- The game was within 10 points the entire way, though there were just two ties and five lead changes.
- Oregon State took the lead for good with 18:41 left in the game (32-31); after that point, CU had just three possessions trailing by a single score (2- or 3 pointer).
- The game only had a couple of real runs; CU had the largestm a 12-0 run that built a 21-14 lead with 8:29 left in the first half (it large lead of the game); Oregon State had a 14-4 run over the last part of the first half and first part of the second to turn a 29-25 deficit into a 39-33 lead.
- The 8-point deficit CU faced (49-41) in the second half was the second biggest at home this season (UCLA led by 13 on two occasions).
QUICKLY
Game time was 1:55 ... After starting 102 straight games, F Andre Roberson (viral illness) has missed two in a row (CU is now 1-1 without him) ... Barring CU being left out of the NCAA field and playing NIT home games, the Buffs finished 12-3 at home this year.
COLORADO AT HOME / TAD BOYLE ERA
W L Pct. PD/W PD/L Overall Average
Overall 44 7 .863 + 746 - 52 + 694 + 13.6
Pac-12 Games 14 4 .778 + 204 - 34 + 170 + 9.4
This was CU's second-worst shooting performance of the season (21-of-60, 35.0, worst at home), and the eighth time the Buffs were held under 40 percent (though CU is 2-6 in those games) .... The teams combined for just 24 fouls, tied for the second fewest this year (21 at Oregon, also 24 at California) ... Sabatino Chen led the team in scoring at the half for the first time in his career (7 points) ...
The loss takes away from what was otherwise a pretty good day so far for CU: the ski team on the national championship in Middlebury, Vt.; Emma Coburn won the mile run at the NCAA Indoor Championships; and the men's golf team ended the day in the lead at the Bandon Dunes Championship.
SERIES
Colorado now leads the series by an 8-4 margin, including a 6-1 edge in Boulder as Oregon State won for the first time since the first time it visited here in 1940); the series is tied 2-2 with both as members of the Pac-12.
Tad Boyle-coached teams are now 3-4 against Oregon State. He is 68-36 in his third season at Colorado (and 44-7 in Boulder).
