HEAD COACH TAD BOYLE
On Spencer Dinwiddie Injury:
“We'll find out. I don't have a prognosis right now. It didn't feel good, but we'll find out. Right now, I don't know. I'll have a
chance to talk to Rawley and then obviously he'll see our doctors when we get back, but right now I'm not sure.”
Do you have a gut feeling?
“Yeah, my gut is not good. My gut's not good. But, we'll see. If he's out, he's out. I just feel so bad for the kid because he's
worked so hard. We're just going to have to wait and see. We obviously missed him in the second half and he means a lot to
our team. If he is out, we have to figure some things out and learn how to overcome. It was a blow, there's no doubt about
that”.
Mentally, how tough is that on a team to watch their star go down?:
“It's hard on them. There's no question it's hard. Emotion
“It's hard on them. There's no question it's hard. Emotion
is a big part of this game; any game at this level. We'll find out where he's at, but I think it was definitely an emotional blow to
our team in the second half. I thought we finished the first half well. I don't know if we were going on fumes or what, but the
second half, boy we shot ourselves in the foot. You turn the ball over 20 times against a good team and you've got six assists,
it's just a recipe for disaster. They shoot 66 percent in the second half. They got going and they've got good shooters. They're a
good team and they've got good players and they're playing well right now. They beat us, beat us like a drum.”
On Askia Booker finding a hard time finding a rhythm tonight:
“Yeah, Ski was forcing things. I think when Spencer went down he tried to really force things and he's not good when he forces
things. We didn't show patience, we didn't show composure, we didn't show poise on the offensive end and that's how you
turn it over 20 times and you shoot 35 percent because you take bad shots. Really poor job on offense in the second half, a
poor job coaching.”
On Wesley Gordon's Performance:
“Wesley was active. Our goal was to out‐rebound them and plus‐six was our goal. WE got them plus‐eight. In the first half, we
were plus‐eight and the second half was kind of stalemate, but they didn't miss any shots in the second; there weren't many
rebounds to be had. But, I thought we got it on the boards, which is something you have to do against Washington.
We didn't play very smart. We came off a couple shooters. You can't lose Wilcox like we did a couple of times in the second
half. He's a good player. They got a couple of transition buckets, they got the crowd into it. Just not a good performance for us
for the last 20 minutes.
On C.J. Wilcox:
“Every time he shoots it, you think it's going in. He's got such a good stroke a good release and he gets it off quickly. He's got
great size. They run good stuff for him. Hopefully our guys can learn from him. A guy who plays without the ball like that is
pretty special.”
