Kizirian, English Claim AOTW Honors

BOULDER - Track and field's Alexandre Kizirian and Kelsey English were awarded CU Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for the week of Jan. 13-19.
Kizirian, a junior from Thornton, Colo. (Mountain Range), set a Balch Fieldhouse record in the weight throw on Saturday at the Potts Invitational in Boulder. Leading the Buffs with a pair of first-place finishes in both the weight throw and the shot put, the school record holder in the weight throw recorded his best toss of the day on his first attempt (65-11.50). He then won the shot put with a personal best mark of 53-11.25.
English, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo. (Doherty), finished first in the women's high jump at the Potts Indoor Invitational, clearing a mark of 5-10. English, who also competes on the Colorado Buffaloes women's volleyball team, joined the track and field team in 2012. Her previous personal best in the indoor high jump was 5-9.25. She currently ranks sixth on CU's all-time performers list.
Also nominated for this week's Athlete of the Week Award: Josh Scott (men's basketball).
Scott, a sophomore forward, averaged 19.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game, leading the Colorado Buffaloes (15-4, 4-2 Pac-12) to a 1-1 split at home against UCLA and USC. Against No. 25 UCLA, Scott scored 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting with a team-high nine rebounds and three blocks. Against USC, Scott netted his fifth career 20-point scoring effort, leading all scorers with 20 points. He also had seven rebounds and two blocks.
