CU-Wyoming Quotes

November 22, 2014 | Men's Basketball

University of Colorado Head Coach Tad Boyle

General

"First of all, my hats goes off to Wyoming tonight. It wasn't even close. It was an old-fashion butt whipping. They whipped us in every conceivable way. Our guys got down because we couldn't make a shot and it bled over to our defense. We gave up 57 percent in the second half and 52 percent for the game, while we made two shots in the second half. They were better than us tonight in every way. I can say we were bad, but Wyoming had a lot to do with that. For us to beat good teams, we are going to have to play better than we did tonight. It's embarrassing."

On The Start Of The Second Half

"When they start the second half like that, you know teams in their own building and the crowd was great, you knew they were going to make a run. They were going to make a couple threes. They shot the ball well from three. We were late all night getting to their guys. We wanted to pressure the ball and get into their guys a little bit. You let them move and run their offense side-to-side and you are eventually going to break down and we did. Mentally we weren't very tough tonight. You don't get beat like that on the road if you are mentally tough."

On If He Was Pleased Going Into Halftime
"Yes, with the way we shot the ball, but we couldn't make a pass. They are such a better passing team than we are. I mean they had 22 assists and eight turnovers and we had six assists and 12 turnovers. Passing was our Achilles' heel last year as a team and it reared its head today. We want to try and do everything off the dribble and you can't do that. You have to be able to move the ball."

Josh Scott, Jr., F
On What Happened In The Second Half

"We shot too many jump shots and they scored and we didn't get stops. Pretty cut and dry."
On Whether The Team Was Out Of It Mentally

"I wouldn't say mentally. We have to switch our mentality. When shots aren't being hit, we need to focus on defense and I don't think we did that well tonight."

On Whether The Team Felt Good At Halftime

"I wouldn't say good would be the way I'd describe it, but to be in the game, especially come back from a deficit, yeah it felt good."

On What Makes Wyoming Tough

"Just how they play  their system. They do a good job."

On How The Team Bounces Back

"We realize we're not as good as we thought we were. Then, just focus on the fact that we have another squad coming into Boulder and we need to win at home."

Dominique Collier, Fr., G

On Playing In His First Game At CU
"It felt pretty good to be out there and just be out here with my teammates for my first college game. It didn't end the way we all wanted it to end, but we have to bounce back fast because we have a game Tuesday."

On Making His First Two Three-Point Attempts

"Yeah, I was just wide open, so getting my feet set and getting ready to shoot it. Coach (Boyle) just told me to be ready to play and I was just ready when he called my name."

On Whether It Was Good To Open Against A Good Team
"Yeah, because I can learn a lot from my mistakes on the defensive end and my mistakes on the offensive end, so it'll help a lot going against a team like this. This will be a good learning experience for all of us."
