Colorado Head Coach Danny Sanchez
On Today's Game
“This is a good team [San Francisco]. If you look at their results, they've had really good results so I was really pleased with what we did today.”
On Brie Hooks
“She rises to the occasion. We have been challenging her to take more of a leadership role, and take more responsibility and accountability and I thought she was really good today.”
On The Team As A Whole
“Obviously we need Brie [Hooks], but we need a lot of other players. This is going to be by committee this year. We want to make sure that we're focused and I think that this is a good match to get ready for Cal.”
On Creating Opportunities
“I think we had a lot of good looks. Obviously we were a little disappointed on Friday because we wanted more of them, but I thought today's goals were very good. We created a lot and if you don't create, you're not going to score. We created a lot and I think that slowly but surely they're going to come.”
Colorado Forward Brie Hooks
General Thoughts
“It's good. We've had a little bit of some shaky games leading up to now and we really wanted to come out here. Sunday games aren't always our best so to come out and have a good Sunday game especially having Cal next week, it was a good game to end on.”
On Her Goal
“It was good. It feels nice to always be involved in the attack and I've had a couple games where I haven't really been involved so to get back in that groove before Pac-12, it raises my confidence a little.”
On This Weekend's Games
“I think we definitely did [gain confidence]. Getting a good win Friday and then again today, having that good offensive mind and getting goals off of a good team. San Francisco is a good team and to have a good result like that, I think it really raises the confidence level and shows us that we can play in big games. Leading into Pac-12, we need that.”
On The Team's Confidence
“I hope our confidence isn't peaking because we need to keep growing, but I think it's definitely raising our confidence level and showing that we can finish in tough situations and if we need to score goals, we're going to score them. We need to do that in Pac-12 because you don't get as many chances in Pac-12 games so finishing is a big part of it.”
Colorado Midfielder Kahlia Hogg
On Her Goal
“It was great. I've been chasing a goal the last couple of weekends after getting my first goal in Las Vegas. Brie was really unselfish on the top of the box, laid it off, and we identified that they were going to be a little bit weaker out on the width. I just really concentrated on my strike and it came off well, so really a confidence booster for me.”
On How The Team Has Grown
“I think as the season has gone on, we've been building and building and that's been our plan to not peak at the start of the season. Going into Pac-12 play next week, I think that what we did today is really important, especially on a Sunday. Hopefully we can build off of that and use our width, our athleticism out wide. I think we also showed today that we can play on top of the box and create chances out of nothing.”
On What They'll Take Into Conference Play
“Definitely the confidence. San Francisco is the best team we've played so far. Cal next week, they're going to be the best team we've played up until this point so, I think just really building off of getting three goals is a good confidence booster.”
On Her Personal Goals
“I just want to keep getting involved in the game and being an important player on the team. At the end of the day, everyone has to come together and play well for us to go far in Pac-12. I want to step up and hopefully everyone else does so if we do that, I think you can see us going far this season.”
