Colorado-Washington Quotes

Colorado Head Coach Linda Lappe
General
"I am proud of how we played. We have played now, three and a half games of really good basketball. I like this team because of what we do and how we play together, how hard we played. I think we are playing really hard and that's what we are asking them to do. Honestly we could've some better decisions done the stretch. We had a few too many turnovers, when we needed to score and we could've gotten a few more stops and rebounds. But in terms of where we are at and what we are doing, now its a matter of going into a gym and having the mindset of getting a win; understanding that the conference is wide open. There are so many teams that are very similar to each other and we have every right to win at their place as they do."
On Jazmine Davis
"When Talia Walton went out, she obviously took it upon herself to win the game for them. I thought she was tremendous down the stretch. She was aggressive, she got to the rim, and she hit threes. She did what every senior should do. You have to give her a lot of credit; she's a great player and also a great kid. You don't want to get beat somebody, but she's one that you have a lot of respect for. Obviously we could have done a much better job of staying on her on some of those three point shots. They did a nice job of driving and kicking to her when we fell asleep a couple of times. It's hard because you have two players that you feel like that can beat you, and they are taking all the shots down the stretch."
On The Way We Responded
"We knew it was going to be high scoring game, Washington can score but in return we can score. We both are not great defensive teams this year; obviously we are working on that. It was a game that was back and forth. I liked how hard we competed. I thought Lexy (Kresl) really carried us midway through that second half when we needed to score. She was a huge part of that stretch where went up by eight to ten. Missed a few shots down the stretch but our decision making down the stretch could have been a lot better. We had a couple players in the game, that hadn't been there before. We had some foul trouble. Jen Reese was not really able to be apart of that game but we had a lot of great performance from a lot of players. "
Senior Guard Lexy Kresl
On Difference From Last Year
"I think we had a lot of confidence going into tonight's game after playing Utah twice. We came out and showed pretty well. We just have to fix a few little things and execute down the stretch."
On Personal Assignments for Tonight
"I knew it was going to be a challenge on both ends of the floor tonight. But our goal with Kelsey Plum was to make her use her right hand, and to force them into shots that were uncomfortable. Her [Plum] and Jazmine Davis are both pretty good; you can't really guard a non-scorer on this team."
On Guarding Pac-12 Guards
"I would say the Pac-12 is guard dominated in my opinion. You could name one great guard on every single team that just stands out above the rest in this conference and probably to other guards in the nation."
