Buffs At Home, Face Northern Colorado Thursday

THE GAME: The University of Colorado hosts front-range foe Northern Colorado in its last of a two-game homestand on Thursday, Nov. 19, 7 p.m. MST at the Coors Events Center.
BROADCAST: Thursday's game will air live on KKZN 760 AM. Cory Lopez will have the call and Carol Callan of USA Basketball will provide the color commentary. A free live video stream will be available through Colorado's Pac-12.com video player. Non-televised Pac-12 road games are scheduled to be available on the opponents' similar video player, free of charge.
ABOUT THE BUFFS: Colorado opened its 2015-16 campaign and its sixth season under head coach Linda Lappe on Saturday, Nov. 14 against Loyola Marymount. With a handful of Buffs scoring in double-digits, Colorado took care of business, defeating the Lions 92-81 at the Coors Events Center.
Freshman Kennedy Leonard made her collegiate debut as the starting point guard and led the team in scoring with 18 points, while dishing out a team-high eight assists. She also recorded five rebounds, two blocks and a pair of steals to cap off an impressive first game in a Buff uniform.
Junior guard Lauren Huggins made her first career start and was on fire from behind the arc, shooting 4-of-5 and tied a career-high with 16 points.
Freshman guard Alexis Robinson came off the bench and turned in an all-around complete game with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 block in 24 minutes off the bench as the reserves combined to score 40 points overall.
Senior Jamee Swan also came off the bench and scored 14 points to go along with four rebounds and two blocked shots.
CLOSING IN ON 100: Head Coach Linda Lappe is only one victory away from reaching 100 wins as Colorado's head coach. She is 99-69 at the helm for the Buffaloes and her career record stands at 149-105 in eight-plus seasons.
ABOUT NORTHERN COLORADO: Northern Colorado is 2-0 on the young season, defeating the Denver Pioneers on the road by a score of 60-51 to open the season and then dominating Western State, 101-48 at home earlier this week.
Northern Colorado, picked to finish fourth in the Big Sky in the preseason Coaches' Poll, is averaging 80.5 points per game. The Bears' backcourt is anchored by senior guard Kyleigh Hiser who has averaged 15 points over the first two contests.
The Bears are coming off a 2014-15 season where they advanced to the third round of the WNIT and won a program-high 22 games. Northern Colorado posted a 22-13 overall record and went 12-6 against Big Sky opponents to finish in fourth place.
Northern Colorado is under the direction of second-year head coach Kamie Ethridge.
THE SERIES: Colorado leads the all-time series 10-6 and has won seven consecutive meetings against the Bears. The Buffs also hold a 7-3 record at home when hosting Northern Colorado at Coors Events Center.
WHAT'S NEXT?: The Buffaloes hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to Lexington, Ky. to face the 13th-ranked (AP & USAT) Kentucky Wildcats at Memorial Coliseum on Sunday, Nov. 22, 12 p.m. MST. The game will mark the first meeting between the Buffs and Wildcats.
