Military Appreciation Day Highlights Week Ahead For The Buffs

November 02, 2015 | General

BOULDER - It's November.  In the world of college athletics, that usually coincides with mass chaos as the fall sports wind down and the winter sports start up.

A busy week that will conclude with a visit by No. 8 Stanford Saturday to Folsom Field with Military Appreciate Day begins with three programs concluding their fall or regular seasons.

The women's golf team is in Hawaii for the Pac-12 Preview, what has become an annual event with the majority of the country's toughest conference in action.  Men's golf is in Carlsbad, Calif., for The Gifford Collegiate Championship and the soccer team travels to Utah Friday for a 2 p.m. game on the Pac-12 Networks.

November also means crunch time for the volleyball team with just four weeks remaining in the regular season, the Buffs sit at 14-10 overall and 6-6 in the Pac-12.  The Buffs have won four of their last six matches and need that to continue with the ever tough trip to Los Angeles where two top 10 opponents await.  CU will take on No. 9 UCLA Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. and then travel across town to take on No. 2 USC on Friday at 9 p.m., with both matches being televised by the Pac-12 Networks.

That brings us back to Saturday where the football team will host the Cardinal at 11 a.m. at Folsom Field.  It's Military Appreciate Day as the Buffs honor those who have or are serving our country in the armed forces.  The Buffs will host both a food and toy drive prior to the game and there will be a swearing in ceremony into the armed forces during the game.

Fans can also donate a ticket so a veteran can attend the game.

After the football game, focus will shift to the Coors Events Center, where fans can see the women's basketball team for the first time in an exhibition game against USC-Aiken at 7 p.m.
