Colorado Head Coach Linda Lappe
General
"I thought it was a really good win as one unit. We've talked about playing together and getting rid of individual plays. We wanted to be able to come together, on both offense and defense. I thought we really played as one team today. Our offense was really clicking, and we had a great tempo getting the ball up and down the floor. We just did some really good things on the offensive side of the floor. Even though we didn't hold them to the points we wanted, you have to give them credit, they finished plays especially in the first quarter. But I see us starting to transition some of the drills we run in practice over to the games and that's good to see."
On defensive play
"Right now our defense is a little inconsistent and we need to make it consistent. Tonight we ran stance really well, and we had active hands. We could have moved our feet a little better, and it showed with way to many fouls committed. But overall the mentality and grit was there. We talked about making the last play defensively, it's great to make the first or second play but if there's a third play and we don't make it the other team still scores. So being able to make that last play, no matter how many plays there are, we have to be able to make as many plays as we need too, to be able to make that stop and make it tough to score against us. I see it in spurts we just need to work on consistency, but the good thing is we get another chance tomorrow night."
On Jamee Swan
"She was a dynamic player coming out of high school, and you could see all the potential she had as a freshman all the way to her junior year. Wish Jamee it's just about being able to bring it every day in practice and then being able to bring it in the games consistently. I think Jamee was pretty disappointed with her performance against Kentucky, as were a lot of our plays and so was I as a coach. You could see Jamee really take advantage of the chance to make up for that. Jamee had a great focus tonight, and she understands that this is our tournament and that we want to play well in our tournament. That's what seniors do, teach the young kids how to uphold tradition and to be able to protect our home court. I was really proud of how she stepped up and her mentality. She did a really great job on the boards, and obviously scored really well."
On Zoe Beard-Fails injury
"She has a concussion from the play the other night [against Kentucky]. And she won't be able to play this weekend."

On Becoming a Defensive-Minded Team
"I think we're headed in the right direction. We still have a lot of work to do. One of our goals was to hold them to under a certain amount of points. We didn't complete that goal, but we did a solid job playing together as a team and actually playing Colorado team defense. It's only the beginning of the season, but I have a feeling we're going to get there."
On Realizing During the Game That She Was Perfect From Both the Field and Free Throw Line
"Yeah, we were talking about it on the bench. Haley [Smith] asked me about it. I guess God had a plan, but it wasn't for me. I still got a whole season."
Alexis Robinson, Fr., G
On Becoming More Comfortable in the Offense
"Absolutely. I owe it all to my teammates. They get me ready and give me a lot of confidence. I think they're doing a great job of getting me better every day."
On Starting Off Well in the Beginning of the Game
"I started off better, so it got me going. My teammates definitely picked me up. I think even if I wouldn't have made those shots, they still would have had my back and had me going either way."
Haley Smith, Jr., G/F
On Having Other Teammates Contributing from Both the Outside and Inside
"It makes it so easy, this year especially. We have so many people who can score from different places on the floor, so it takes the pressure off of a lot of people. It's awesome knowing that Kennedy [Leonard] gets a steal and passes it up to Brecca [Thomas] who hits a three. We have people who can score in any position they're put in, so it makes it really easy. We had really nice flow with our offense tonight which is something we've been working on all week. I think we have a lot of versatile players who can score from all over the court. Personally, I wasn't having a good shooting night. It worked out, because we had a lot of people stepped up which was awesome."
On Keeping the Intensity Up After Getting a Big Lead Early On in the Game
"For us, we had some nice momentum going into the half. We were talking about it. A lot of times when teams are up already in the first half, the team that's down is going to come out and throw that first punch in the second half. We had to be the aggressors coming out, so we made sure to step on their throats and not let up."
