----

LATE FOURTH QUARTER

Late in the game, both teams turned to mostly backups and neither squad was able to move the ball. CU backup quarterback Cade Apsay threw an interception and the teams then traded punts as the clock ran down. With 2:47 remaining, Stanford punted with the score still 42-10.

12:33 4TH QTR

Both teams went to their backup QBs in the fourth quarter, with CU turning to Cade Apsay and Stanford going with Ryan Burns.

-----

14:52 REMAINING FOURTH QTR

After Colorado couldn't score following a 71-yard interception return to the Stanford 3, the Cardinal took over at their own 5 and marched 95 yards for a touchdown in 13 plays. The drive, which took 6:20 off the clock, culminated with a 28-yard pass from running back Christian McCaffrey to Austin Hooper as Stanford bumped its lead to 42-10 with 14:52 left in the final period.

-----

6:12 REMAINING 3RD QTR

The Buffs forced their first takeaway of the game when safety Tedric Thompson picked off a Kevin Hogan pass and returned it 71 yards to the Stanford 3.

The Buffs, though, came up empty when Patrick Carr was thrown for a 2-yard loss and the next three plays yielded incompletions and Stanford held on to its 35-10 lead.

------

9:14 LEFT 3RD QTR

A quarterback sack left the Buffs with a third and long and they couldn't convert and punted the ball away.

Stanford had a 332-200 edge in total offense at this point in the game, with 186 yards on the ground and 146 in the air. The Buffs had 75 yards on the ground, with Liufau leading with 43 yards.

-----

11:23 REMAINING 3RD QTR

The Buffs took the opening possession of the quarter and drove inside the Stanford 10 before settling for a 29-yard Diego Gonzalez field goal to cut the gap to 28-10. Sefo Liufau complted an 11-yard pass to Nelson Spruce and had runs of 11 and 17 yards on the drive. The march stalled when Liufau was thrown for a 2-yard loss on third down.

Stanford, however, quickly answered. After the Cardinal recovered an onsides kick attempt by the Buffs, Stanford running back Bryce Love went 47 yards for a touchdown on the first play as Stanford extended the lead to 35-10.

----

HALFTIME

An Stanford interception of a poorly thrown Sefo Liufau pass opened the door for another Cardinal touchdown just before half. Liufau overthrew his receiver and Stanford's Dallas Lloyd intercepted near midfield. Eight plays later, Kevin Hogan ran to the end zone from 1 yard out with :01 left on the clock. The big play on the drive was a 25-yard pass from Hogan to Austin Hooper to the CU 1-yard line and Stanford took a 28-7 lead into the locker room at intermission.

------

The Cardinal put together another long, time-consuming drive, converting two third-down tries and scoring on fourth and short. Christian McCaffrey had a 40-yard run early in the drive before Stanford methodically punched it in. The CU defense played tough inside the 10 and forced a fourth-and-2, but after a Stanford timeout, quarterback Kevin Hogan faked a handoff up the middle, then dumped a pass in the end zone to wide open tight end Dalton Schultz for a 6-yard touchdown. The PAT gave Stanford a 21-7 lead with 1:51 left in the half.

------

8:14 LEFT 2ND QTR

A CU drive into the red zone came up empty, as Diego Gonzales was wide left on a 37-yard FG attempt. The Buffs drove from their own 21 to the Stanford 19, converting one third-down try along the way. Sefo Liufau connected with Nelson Spruce for gains of 10 and 14 yards, and also threw for 23 yards to Devin Ross. The drive stalled after two incompletions.

-------

11:53 LEFT 2ND QTR

Colorado's tendency to give up big plays showed up in a big way. After the defense put Stanford in a third-and-18 hole, thanks to a sack of Kevin Hogan by Derek McCartney, Hogan answered with a 43-yard touchdown pass to Michael Rector with 11:53 left in the second quarter. Rector streaked past CU defensive back Ken Crawley and Hogan delivered a perfect strike. The PAT gave Stanford a 14-7 lead.

------

END FIRST QUARTER

The Cardinal and Buffs traded punts near the end of the first quarter. CU stopped a Stanford drive with a big Jimmie Gilbert sack of Kevin Hogan on third-and-3 to force a punt, but the Buffs couldn't move the ball from their own 20. A penalty put the Buffs in a third-and-10, and Sefo Liufau was forced to throw the ball away when he couldn't find an open receiver. The Buffs punted and Stanford ran one play before the first quarter ended.

-----

After Stanford scored on its opening drive, the Buffs quickly answered with a scoring drive of their own. The Buffs went 75 yards in six plays, getting an 11-yard from from Patrick Carr on third down to keep the drive alive, a 36-yard Sefo Liufau pass to Nelson Spruce and a 4-yard TD run from Donovan Lee. Diego Gonzalez's PAT tied the game at 7-7 with 6:07 left in the first quarter.

------

Stanford gets on the board first with a prototypical Cardinal drive: 15 plays, 81 yards, seven minutes off the clock. The Cardinal converted two third downs and a fourth down on the drive, with the longest play a 20-yard pass from Kevin Hogan to Trenton Irwin. Christian McCaffrey carried four times for 19 yards and Remound Wright scored from 1 yard out for the 7-0 lead.

 ---------

Stanford wins the flip and wants the ball first. Buffs will kick off from south to north.

Without revealing too much, we'll just note that Ralphie had a rather energetic practice session Friday night at Folsom Field. She's in her pen and ready to go this morning with just about 8 minutes left until kickoff.
