Colorado-Penn State Notes

December 23, 2015 | Men's Basketball

Colorado improves to 11-1 overall and has won 11 games in a row, the fifth best streak in team history and best since the 1961-62 team won 12 straight. The 11-1 start is the best after 12 games since the 1941-42 team won its first 12 en route to the NCAA Final Four.

Colorado's 11-game win streak is tied for the third longest current run in NCAA Division I. Top-ranked Michigan State is first with 13 straight wins, No. 6 Xavier is second with 12. Colorado is tied with South Carolina who improved to 11-0 on Tuesday. SMU, Wednesday's opponent, is fifth with a 10 game win streak.

Colorado's 71 points were its second lowest output of the season and ends its streak of scoring at least 80 points at a school record 10 straight. The Buffaloes' 37.5 percent shooting was also their second lowest mark of the season.

Josh Scott (18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks) moved past the 1,400 point and 800 rebound milestones. He's 11th in career scoring at 1,413 and now just 15 points from breaking into the top 10. Scott has 802 career rebounds, sixth on CU's all-time charts. He moved past Poncho Hodges (1991-93) for fourth in career blocks, now with 134.

Scott scored 15 of his 18 points in the first half and at one point scored 13 in a row for the Buffaloes. He recorded a team season-high 12 free throw attempts.

Wesley Gordon (10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks) became the 28th Colorado player to reach 500 rebounds and now has 504.

Penn State guard Shep Garner's 26 points are the most by a Colorado opponent this season
