Week Ahead: Men's, Women's Hoops - And Ugly Sweaters
December 07, 2015 | Women's Basketball, Neill Woelk
BOULDER — Colorado's men's and women's basketball teams both return to the Coors Events Center this week, with the women playing two games on their home floor and the men one.
Saturday will see the CEC host a men's-women's doubleheader, with the women playing host to Missouri at 1:30 p.m. and the men taking on BYU in a 6 p.m. contest, with both games featuring "ugly sweater" promotions.
CU women — After a pair of tough road losses, Linda Lappe's 3-4 Buffs play host to Northern Arizona on Wednesday (7 p.m. tipoff) at the CEC, where the Buffs are 4-1 this season. The Events Center will no doubt be a welcome sight for the Buffs after last week's 64-63 heartbreaker at CSU and Sunday's 59-42 defeat at Long Beach State.
The 3-4 Lumberjacks bring a two-game win streak into the game, with victories over UC-Irvine and New Mexico Highlands in their last two.
Saturday's game against Missouri will also be "Ugly Sweater Day" at the CEC. The first 600 fans at the women's game will get ugly-sweater T-shirts, and a special ugly sweater contest will be held at halftime (prizes to be awarded).
Also, fans who purchase a ticket to Saturday's women's game may also stay for the men's games (seating will be general admission only).
CU men — Tad Boyle's 7-1 Buffs, owners of a 7-game win streak, play host to BYU at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Buffs are coming off an 88-77 win at Colorado State on Sunday, a game in which they erased a 52-39 halftime deficit, while BYU is currently 5-2 and plays at home against Utah State on Wednesday.
The men's game will see Ragstock award $50 to the best ugly sweater of the evening, and Ragstock will also be tossing ugly sweaters into the stands during the game.
