Colorado-Arizona Quotes

February 27, 2015 | Women's Basketball

Colorado Coach Linda Lappe

On Team Win

"Yes, that's exactly what we talked about in the locker room at the end of the game. We can't do what we did in the second half without great minutes from our bench in the first half. We're excited about this win. It's the second game in a row that we played well and held our opponent to fewer points in the second half then the first half, so it's a great formula for us. Our depth and our bench are allowing us to do that."

On Zone Defense

"I thought our zone looked pretty well; we worked on it a little bit in practice, not a lot, so you have to give our players credit for being able to execute it like they did. They were talking and moving extremely well. Sometimes the toughest thing to do out of a zone is to rebound and our guards rebounded along with our post players. Towards the end of the game we finally beat them in the rebounding category, which is always an important statistic for us."

On Change of Attitude on the Road

"It was a great attitude by our club. I thought our starters got us started on the right foot; we were pushing in transition. The offense I was calling was really slowing the ball down, so we didn't go back to that in the second half. Instead, we were in our more up-tempo offense. I thought that really helped us get great shots at the rim and be able to get to the free throw line a few more times in the second half. But you really have to credit the heart of our players. They played really inspired tonight and we are playing some of our best basketball. And now we put two great games together and the challenge is to put a third one together."

On Lexy Kresl's Performance

"I thought Lexy had a good floor game in the second half. She really created the tempo for our team; she did it in the first and second half. She understood her shot wasn't there but I thought she got to the rim a lot. I thought she was getting beat up down there but she didn't let it bother her. It's funny because this week in practice I didn't call fouls for her at all and she took it really well. She didn't get frustrated in practice, and she handle it the same way tonight. It's really fun to see her still impact the game like she did even when her shot was not falling."

On Next Game Against Arizona State

"We're excited to play Arizona State; it's always a tough place to play. I am sure we will tweak a few things going in but we try and focus one game at a time. Coach Jamie Carey has the scouting report and she's been busy watching the film getting a good game plan together but our players will be ready."

Colorado Player Jen Reese

On Team Win Two Games in a Row

"Everyone had their part tonight, either on the bench or on the floor, and we were just moving the ball and playing great defense. It was just a great TEAM win.

On Executing Offense

"The flow was great. We were getting ball reversals, finding the open gap, not forcing anything, just letting the game come to us and when that happens we knock down our shots contested or not. That's how good of team that we are and how many great shooters that we have."

On The Best Basketball They Are Playing

"Yes. Like Coach Lappe said in the locker room, and we believe it, that's the best we've played all season and that's great going into the Pac-12 tournament. The seasons not over yet, the seniors have one more season game before the Pac-12 tournament. But in the mean time we are preparing for the tournament because it's really up in the air and it will be a great tournament."
