Buffs O-Line Named NFF Colorado Chapter Players of the Week

September 15, 2015 | Football

DURANGO—The Colorado offensive line unit that allowed the Buffs to rush for 390 yards in a 48-14 win over Massachusetts Saturday was named the National Football Foundation – Colorado Chapter Players of the Week.

CU's starting lineup of Jeromy Irwin (LT), Gerrad Kough (LG), Alex Kelley (C), Jonathan Huckins (RG) and Stephane Nembot (RT) and the insertion of LT Sam Kronshage after Irwin went down with an injury, all were huge in the Buffs dominate victory.

The 390 yards were the most in almost 13 years when the Buffs racked up 427 yards against Kansas on Oct. 12, 2002.  It was the Buffs first 300 yard rushing game since Sept. 22, 2007 against Miami, Ohio, and two Buffs, Michael Adkins (19 rushes, 119 yards, 1 TD) and Christian Powell (8-105-2) each had 100 yard games while Phillip Lindsay added 73 yards and one score on 10 carries and freshman Patrick Carr had 10 carries for 55 yards.

The Buffs also had 168 yards passing for a total of 558 yards on 83 plays, or 6.7 yards per play and the line did not give up a sack.

Next up for the Buffs is the Rocky Mountain Showdown at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.  The game will kick off at 5 p.m. (CBS Sports) and fans are encouraged both to wear white and to meet the team as they arrive at the stadium at 2:45 p.m. The bus will arrive below Gate 10 in the southwest tunnel.
