SAN FRANCISCO – The birthday presents keep rolling in for junior Kenneth Olugbode, who Monday was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Colorado's 27-24 overtime win over Colorado State in the Rocky Mountain Showdown.

Olugbode led the Buffs with a team-high 13 tackles, had one third down stop and his first career interception, which he returned 60 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the Buffs up 24-17. Freshman LB Rick Gamboa tipped the pass that Olugbode snared and took down the right sideline.

“Me and Rick had been talking prior to the snap,” Olugbode said after the game. “They kept getting us on screens, so we figured, see the screen, and right when he broke, Rick took off, hit him, and the ball went up in the air and I said, 'I gotta have it.'”

He is the 15th CU player to return his first career interception for a touchdown since 1992.

Stanford QB Kevin Hogan (offense) and Utah DB Cory Butler-Byrd (special teams) were the other honorees this week by the conference office.
