Final score: Colorado 49, Arizona 24

Fourth Quarter

  • After some back and forth, the Buffs drive is extended after an Arizona personal foul, and Phillip Lindsay makes the Wildcats pay with a 34 yard TD to make the score: Colorado 49, Arizona 24.
  • Sefo Liufau is intercepted after the ball was tipped and Arizona needs just three plays and 50 seconds to score again. Colorado 42, Arizona 24.
  • Arizona goes with Solomon at QB and drives 75 yards in 7 plays in 2:10 to make the score: Colorado 42, Arizona 17.

Third Quarter

  • Aided by a solid punt return from Isaiah Oliver, the Buffs need to go just 52 yards in 7 plays and Liufau dives in from 2 yards out to make the score: Colorado 42, Arizona 10
  • The Buffs respond after the missed field goal and go 7 plays and 73 yards in just 2:36, Sefo Liufau hitting Shay Fields for the second time this game, this one from 27 yards out.  Colorado 35, Arizona 10.
  • The Buffs offense went three-and-out to open the second half and Arizona jumped on the opportunity, driving 14 plays in 55 yards to the Buffs 18.  Jimmie Gilbert got a 9 yard sack on third down, making a 35 yard FG 44 yards, and the Wildcats missed their third field goal of the game, score remains Colorado 28, Arizona 10.

Second Quarter

  • The Buffs D holds after Arizona gets into the red zone.  UA is flagged for intentional grounding that makes a 35 yard FG attempt 50, and it's no good.  At the half. Colorado 28, Arizona 10.
  • Buffs strike again! Sefo Liufau hits Jay MacIntyre from 40 yards out in the final two minutes of the half to put the Buffs up 28-10.  It's the first multiple TD passing game for Liufau since the Michigan game, where he threw three before coming out with an injury.
  • Colorado starts to roll on offense.  The Buffs need just 2:31 on 7 plays to go 63 yards.  Sefo ran for 22 yards and Arizona had a personal foul to aid the drive.  Colorado 21, Arizona 10.
  • Back to Arizona.  The Buffs almost ended the drive with a fumble, forced by Samson Kafovalu, but two plays later Grant breaks it for 45 yards into the red zone.  The Buffs D holds, forcing a 27-yard field goal that the Wildcats hit.  Colorado 14, Arizona 10.
  • Colorado responds! After Dylan Keeney had good hands on the kickoff, catching the line drive, the Buffs started at the 39.  After a first down with two play stoppages, Sefo Liufau went up top to Shay Fields for 47 yards to the 4-yardline.  The Buffs in hurry up mode went to Phillip Lindsay on the next play, and he scored for the second time tonight. Colorado 14, Arizona 7.
  • Arizona responds early in the second quarter to tie the game at 7-7.  Grant scored from 4 yards out. Colorado 7, Arizona 7. 12:28 left in the first half.

First Quarter

  • Arizona moves on its second drive, but is hindered by a chop block that Ryan Moeller drew.  The Buffs got to midfield before having to punt to open the second quarter.
  • The Buffs win the toss and the D gives up one first down before holding Arizona.  CU then takes its first drive 17 plays for 81 yards to take a 7-0 lead.  Phillip Lindsay scored from one yard out.  No plays over 10 yards on that drive.  A grind it out drive.

Pregame

  • The Buffs come into the game 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the Pac-12 conference, alone atop the Pac-12 South standings.  Arizona is 2-7 and 0-6 in the Pac-12.
  • The two teams have played 18 times, 10 in Tucson, and CU owns a 13-5 advantage, although just one of the last six.  The two played 10 times in 11 years from 1950-60, with CU taking all 10 of those games each by two touchdowns or more. Arizona has won four straight.  CU owns an 8-2 advantage in Tucson, losing the last two after winning the first eight.
  • The Buffs have already won four more games in the Pac-12 than they did a season ago.  The conference record for biggest jump in wins from one year to the next is seven, accomplished by Stanford in 1940.  There are six instances of a team improving five wins.
  • If Sefo Liufau starts (he's expected to), he will be starting his 36th game at QB, a new CU record, surpassing current RB coach Darian Hagan, who started 35 from 1989-91.  He's four TD passes short of Cody Hawkins school record of 60.  he also needs 281 yards to reach 9,000 in his career, already a CU record and he would be the 24th QB in Pac-12 history to reach that plateau.
  • Phillip Lindsay is 138 yards short of 2,000 career rushing yards and 182 away from 1,000 rushing yards this season.
  • Kenneth Olugbude needs seven tackles to reach 100 on the season.  He's averaging 10.3 per game with 61 solo stops and 32 assisted tackles.  He also has two interceptions, two sackes, five total tackles for loss, four more for zero, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, five third down stops, two QB pressures and two more QB chasedowns.
