Leonard Named To Pac-12 All-Freshman Team

BOULDER – University of Colorado guard Kennedy Leonard was named to the 2016 Pac-12 All-Freshman Team voted on by the league coaches, the conference announced on Monday.
In addition, Kennedy received honorable mention to the All-Pac-12 team along with Jamee Swan. Guard Alexis Robinson was also named an honorable mention to the All-Freshman squad.
Leonard, a native of Southlake, Texas is second on the team in scoring at 11.8 points, third in rebounds at 3.7, and leads the team with 4.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game. The first-year Buff finished the regular season ranked sixth overall in the conference in assists and third among freshmen. She also is one of only three freshmen ranked in the top 20 in scoring on the Pac-12 leaderboard as she ranks 18th overall. Defensively, she ranks 14th in steals. A Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honoree during the regular season, Leonard recorded two points-assists double-doubles, becoming just the third player in program history to record more than one in her career.
The 5-foot-8-inch guard becomes Colorado's third Pac-12 All-Freshman Team selection and first since the 2012-13 season.
Swan, a 6-2 senior from Marana, Ariz. has been the Buffaloes' top scorer and rebounder throughout the season, averaging 13.7 points and 6.9 rebounds. She ranks in the Top 15 in eight categories on the Pac-12 leaderboard. Swan is fourth in blocked shots (1.8 bpg), eighth in field goal percentage (.445), ninth in free throw percentage (.691), 11th in defensive rebounds (4.7 drpg), 12th in scoring and tied for 12th in rebounding, 14th in offensive rebounds (2.2 orpg) and 15th in steals (1.4 spg). This is the second straight year she has been named an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. Robinson, an Ashland, Ky. native, has averaged 7.9 points per game this season and is second on the team with 71 assists (2.4 apg).
The Buffaloes open the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday, March 3 against Washington at 9:30 p.m. MST at KeyArena in Seattle.
