Ormeño Ruiz Ranked No. 110 In ITA Preseason Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. – Colorado tennis player Nuria Ormeño Ruiz is ranked No. 110 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason singles rankings released Tuesday.
 
The senior from Barcelona, Spain, has a career singles record of 61-36, ranking 25th all-time at CU in wins and 16th in winning percentage (.629). Her 100 combined singles and doubles wins also rank 31st.
 
As a junior in 2015-16, she was named honorable mention all-Pac-12 after leading the Buffaloes with 23 wins, including seven at the No. 1 position. Overall, she was 23-13 in singles play and also had a 6-6 record at No. 1 doubles. She had two standout moments during the season, including winning the ITA Mountain Region singles championship during the fall season and then upsetting 27th-ranked Lauren Marker in three sets to lead CU to a 4-3 upset over No. 59 Arizona on March 13. Ormeño Ruiz was also recognized with the ITA Mountain Region Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award. She was ranked as high as No. 74 nationally last season.

Ormeño Ruiz will also compete at the ITA All-American Championships in early October.
 
The Buffs open the fall season next weekend (Sept. 22-25) with the CU Invitational at CU's South Campus Tennis Complex in Boulder.
